  1. it seems to depend on the country more than the restaurant

i live in scotland and have never even thought of asking for a doggy bag

but when i was in canada with my canadian girlfriend , everbody did it no matter what the place was like

    all the best

  2. It's perfectly fine to ask for a container to place your leftovers from your meal to take home with you. I've seen people at upscale restaurants ask to have their food wrapped. It's your food that you paid for, so if you have something on your plate left over that you want to take home, then the restaurant should happily comply with your wishes for a doggie bag. If the restaurant isn't accomodating, then they are not interested in pleasing their customers.

  3. Where ever you are it's always best to say " Excuse me, I'd like to take the rest home" The waiter or waitress will say sure I'll get you a box or whatever they give to people to take it home in. Then comment on how great the meal was when they brought it.

  4. No you should not ask for one, let the server ask you if you would like to take the leftovers home instead, usually restaurants that do, the servers will ask you.

  5. At some of the nicest places I've been to they automatically ask if I'd like my food packaged up to take home.  They even do it for you and put it in a very nice cloth tote bag for you to keep.  Jeff Ruby's resturants in cincinnati in case you're wondering.

  6. I'm not sure Yellowstonedoggie because i have never asked for one ever  & the posh ones dont give ya heaps anyway so no need for one there :) lol xoxox☺☻♥

  7. If you have ever eaten at the Cheesecake Factory, you will take home a doggie bag.  The food is delicious and the servings are enormous!!!  And, oh, that cheesecake......

  8. Yes, of course! It will make a fine snack later.

But I actually know a woman who will NOT eat leftovers!

    Is she crazy or sumpin'?

    .

  9. well if you have a dog for the bones. Or if you have spent a lot of money on that dinner, heck yea get a container and bring it home for later! money don't grow on trees!!

  10. Depends. If your Boss, Date, Client, or higher authority whom you are trying to impress, and or, not embarass, has paid for the meal, I would say eat what u can and let it go. However, If you are paying for the meal, and you would like to take it home, ask for the bag. no harm no foul.

  11. No sir eee.  The better the standard of food.  Just makes me want to take home more of it.lol

You bought it it is yours.  The only tacky thing would be to go to an all you can eat resturant and try to take the food home.

That is bad. Infact that is pitiful.

  12. I think in US even at 5 star restaurants it is accepted since laws forbid anyone else from eating it and it would otherwise be wasteful. In SF, fancy restaurants spend quite a lot on packaging the doggy bag with the name of the restaurant on it

  13. Even the most expensive places will wrap any leftovers for you.  As a matter of fact, the fancy places will often wrap the items in very fancy ways such as a foil swan or duck.  You have already paid for the food items and if there is more than you can eat or care to eat in one seating it is perfectly permissible to ask to have it wrapped to go home.   In fast food type places you of course already have your wrap to take leftovers home.

  14. you paid for the food, take it home.  the only time its not okay to ask for a doggy bag is when its an all you can eat like the olive garden's never ending pasta bowl.  dont order another bowl just to take home.  that looks cheap.  but if you order and pay for meal that you don't finish you have every right to take it home.

  15. I think it all depends on the type of resturant. Silver service - no. But a cheap one why not, you've paid for  food anyway. If there's heaps left over - take it home.

  16. So long as the food was good and I paid for you're d**n right I'm gonna request a "doggie bag", regardless of how upscale the place is. The only way it's uncomfortable is if someone else pays the tab, and they don't do the same like "the boss".
