  1. as soon as my boys were tall enough to reach the inside bottom of the washer, they were doing their own laundry. nothing wrong with doing your own laundry.

  2. It is a bit unusual- And impressive. Congratulations!

  3. no there is nothing wrong with that

  4. No. In fact, let me lend you a hand. First, there are at least two angles to this issue. Number one, by doing your own laundry, you become self sufficient. You'll learn how to do your clothes and in way that you are happy with them. Ironing is next. Anyway, to help you out, consider this: go out and get yourself some of your own laundry supplies, and put some labels on them. Like "Jack's Soap - DO NOT USE". And get something different than what your mom uses. And then get some stain remover and some Bounce sheets for the dryer. Again, you label them "Jack's (whatever) - DO NOT USE". This will wreack peaceful havoc, and have your siblings begging you to use your stuff. "Can't use it..." you tell em'. This is MY STUFF! Now you've really positioned yourself as powerful. Everyone will be bitching and moaning, "Oh we can't use Jack's stuff!!!" I garuntee you the first thing that will happen is your siblings will say "well maybe Jack's stuff is better...hmmm..." Then you say, "Well you can use some of my stuff if you do my laundry." That will work for a while. And lastly, when no one is looking, you don't use your stuff to do your laundry. You use theirs. Your supplies are just there for SHOW heeeheeeheee. Now don't tell em' "Scanner told me..." Then we'll both look dumb. Be smart. And be happy.

  5. no its actually cool and responsible of you to.. cuz when you move out mom cant wash your clothes and do all that grown up stuff for you

  6. No. It is a good start to get you on your way to knowing what to do for yourself.

  7. My mom had me do my own laundry when I was like 10.  She was a single parent, so I tried to help out where I could.  It is good to know how to do laundry and cook and such.  It teaches you self-reliance for when you get to college or are living on your own.

  8. definitely not odd. we don't live in the 50's anymore. Mom doesn't have to do it all.  I have two boys and they do laundry everyone should pitch in especially if it's your own stuff. Keep it up!

  9. I don't think its odd at all.  In fact, I give your Mom and you a lot of credit to be teaching you how to care for yourself and helping with daily chores.  My Mom made me do everyone in the familys laundry, which was okay with me, because I am good at it.  She pointed out to me recently, that my brothers are complete pigs.  I said "well, you never made them do anything!  What did you expect?"  She nodded and said "Yeah!  That was a mistake!"  LOL!  Neither one of my brothers has a clue how the washing machine works (unless its a belt or compressor or something), one kind of knows how to change diapers, but if he can unload a stinky kid on you, he is Quick Draw McGraw getting rid of the stinky kid!  LOL!  They are mechanically inclined, so its not like they are completely helpless, just on the domestic front, kinda sad though when the wife has to leave town for a week, you'd think all life as they know has come to an end.  I think they would literally wallow in their own filth till they were killed by an avalanche of pizza boxes or the micro wave blew up!  I think, in this day and age, all children from the age of 10 and up are old enough to do their own laundry, unless they are handicapped in some way.  We have a rule here, with foster children, all must participate in household chores and we teach them how, what when and where to do it.  It is amazing how many have no skills, but are willing to learn and be a productive member of our family.  I say KUDOS to you and YOUR MOM!

  10. the fact that you enquiring and not whining ,you are on the road to be a good husband for some lovely lady in the future , i hope you thank your mum

  11. can you come and teach my 13 yr old son to do laundry ??

  12. Not odd, just unusual.  It is good training for you.  Everybody (male or female) should know how to clean, cook and do laundry.  This will make you a self reliant person able to live alone in the future should life turn out like that.  Just one thing bothers me about you question, you say a 13 year old guy, are you saying it is OK for a 13 year old girl but not a guy?  Hope you're not so old fashioned as that!

  13. nope.perfectly normal

  14. Actually, I think it's odd that you haven't been

doing it all along.  Forget the TV shows, you

live in the real world...don't you.

Who is going to wash your clothes when

you leave home?  Women don't do it all

anymore, they leave a lot of it for you guys

to do...Might as well learn now for when the

    twins come along.

  15. you are more than old enough to wash your own clothes. If you change as often as mine does then you have a load or two everyday, and it won't hurt you ...trust me/

  16. I don't think it's odd at all a younger friend of mine started doing his laundry at 13 and I do the majority of my laundry. My mom washes some of my stuff. I'm 16. It's a good think to learn because you don't want to leave home without knowing how to wash clothes.

  17. No it shows responsibility and i think it is perfectly fine to do your own laundry...

  18. The more you know about how to take care of yourself the better. Learn to cook too. I am 50 . I work construction and farm. I have 2 boys & they both cook and do laundry. Being able to do these things can only help because eventually we

are all on our own for some period of time in our lives.

  19. yes if their mom or dad teaching them responsibility and it's good to know how what if you never marry
