Question:

Do you think it is possible to live in the UK without any money at all, forever?

I have a friend who wants to pack up work, close her bank accounts, live in a squat and never work again. She doesn't want to ever claim any benefits, use the NHS, get a pension one day or have a TV, internet or anything. She's 25 years old, I think she is nuts, do you rate her chances?

(PS the reason she wants to do this is that she is an 'anarchist', so she says!)

  1. possible but tough.

  2. Do what Hamez Hanza does, Stand on the Streets of London UK  Preach hatred to the white people, get arrested get put in prison, demand a lap top and get it, demand his type of food and get it, demand the State look after his 2 homes And get it, demand the state look after his family and get it and to top it all, You see it can be done.

  3. where will she go when she needs medical attention, dental treatment, etc etc.  How will she eat?  the squat will be owned by someone so who will pay council tax?

she is living in a dream world.

Empty houses don't just 'exist' Somebody somewhere owns them.  If she wants to 'squat' then she will eventually be moved on.  What about gas heating electricity need I go on???  You cannot live on fresh air. Oh the innocence!

  4. hiya, tramps do it, so yes i think she could, she can sleep in a squat, eat out of dustbins behind cafes/restaurants.she can get her clothes out of bins that collect clothes fot the poor.if she is ill thats not a problem its free on the nhs.yer i think i have coverd it all.i say yes, but she would be mad.xx

  5. I want to do that some day just buy a bit of land in the woods build my own house from natural resources and grow veg etc for food.

Anyone who says I cant do that is too cosy with there mod cons and that makes most of the population.

Man survived for thousands of years without computers, electicity and all the stuff we take for granted why is it considered impossible to be able to live without it all?

  6. LOL. hit her over the head to sort her brains out

i had those fancy ideas when i was 16 but 25?!! come on man

  7. The only person I know of who does this is the guy who calls himself King Arthur Pendragon ( he's real, my son has met him in connection with litigation). He takes nothing from the State, living on the charity of friends who are quite willing to do it. He raises money for charities and may often be seen in appropriate garb at Stonehenge. Some years ago he purchased (no doubt with the aid of friends) the sword Excalibur used in the recent film. He has letters (addressed "Dear King Arthur") from various Chief Constables permitting him to carry the 4' sword in public, which he does strapped to his back. I have no idea what his birth name was but he changed it legally a long time ago. He is no drain on the public purse in any way and takes pains to ensure that as he does not work.

  8. No, I'd love to do that too - like, become self sufficient, but we have to pay taxes!  She can't live in a squat or what'll she eat?  And she'll have to pay for the electricity and running water - unless she lives near a stream with some sort of water mill?  And she'd need to pay council tax.

Her best chances of being able to do all she wants is to marry someone rich!

  9. 0.0000000001%

  10. It sounds like an adventure but not one I'd like to try.  Except for food, unless she plans to steal food, she can probably do it.

  11. NO I don't. She will get sick at one point. Living on the streets in England isn't where you want to be. As for squatting in house. A girl out on the streets on her own. Mmmm, girl is CrAzY!!

  12. She could survive, but the standard of living would be very low, and her life span would be considerably lower

  13. No it isn't. I spent half of last year having to do just that though not for the same reason & not by choice.

But it would be impossible forever.

  14. i rate her chance a big fat  ZERO she must be a brave girl

  15. hope she has a nice big card board box!

  16. i love the idea. what the h**l. its worth a try. she can always go back to the sad old ways if she fails. shes young. she has a lot to learn. can she grow veg? does she know how to find food in the wild? like blackberrys, mushrooms etc? she could try  doing things for trading. like gardening for food. or painting walls for a new outfit. theres loads of things that can be done without going to work. good luck to her. i wish her well

  17. A genuinely mad idea in my estimation.

"But a mere tuppence worth, and even that's more than she wants to have"

  18. She'll soon change her mind when she gets a toothache! That is the worst pain ever!!! Nutter!

  19. If she were to live in squats her safety would in-danger. She would have the possibility of rape and sexual abuse. Gangs--organised and unorganised alike--will exploit her. She could be stabbed--or some-other form of violent death--and die!

Aside, all the potential dangers: I’m interested, how would she obtain food and drink?

  20. Well it maybe possible but she has to have food and she has to be able to pay for the shack and property she lives on.

  21. she is crazy she couldn't evan live in Ethiopia with no money that's just STUPID

  22. Your friend sounds like a total pillock.  I don't plan to use the NHS either but if I got hit by a bus tomorrow, I would want an ambulance to attend pdq.  Mind you, at least she's not planning on being a benefits sponger whilst she's not contributing anything to society.

Why doesn't she actually get off her backside and do something to improve the quality of life for other people in the UK instead of dropping out and idling the rest of her life away?  Now that'd be truly anarchic.

  23. It's possible. If that's what she wants to do, why is it wrong. She's not harming anyone. And I know someone who lived like that, and they are very happy.
