Do you think it is....?

wrong as a citizen to have little or no knowledge about our candidates & not even bother to vote?

It makes me so angry when I ask my mom who she's voting for and she responds "Uhm.. paris hilton" then laughs.

She doesn't know anything about our upcoming election and the positions in which our candidates are opposing for.

Her excuse is that politics are just simply boring.

I'm 15 & wish I could vote in this historical election.

Does this drive anyone else crazy?

  1. Good Question.  From the vantage point of my 47 years, let's just say....

I used to be disgusted, now I am just amused.

  2. Sometimes, it is your civic duty to vote but i guess voting with no knowledge is not really better than not voting at all.

I would be nice if more people would pay attention, but I don't get outrage when i hear people aren't going to vote just because it requires to much work.

  3. yes it does but don't worry your day will come

  4. Yes I do.  But, you get the results you deserve.

  5. That's what makes this country great.  You have a right to vote or not.  I think it is commendable that you have an interest in politics and how our country is run.

Don't be too hard on your mom.  Sometimes the entire political process can be exhausting and confusing.  You can try educating her and explaining what the candidates are promising us (HA! I love that...Write down what they promise..then see how much they actually do!  LOLOLOL)

Like I said..go easy on her..But..she is NOT allowed to criticize the  after the elections if she is not happy.  If she didn't vote she has no say since she has not earned the right.

  6. You can't force everyone to learn and appreciate (if it is possible) politics. Everyone is different.

It does bother me when my friends don't even know who Obama is. Or even who the prime minister of Canada is. But what can you do?

I also wish I could vote. But I don't even live in the states.

  7. I don't know if you can call it wrong but it does show some lack of interest in what's happening to our world. Voting is a right and there is noting that that requires one to cast a ballot but it is a responsibility that all free people should take seriously.

No matter what party or candidate you support you should when qualified vote. There are many people around the world that would give everything they own or hope to own to have the right to select their government. Many of our citizens have given their life's to protect that right.

Tell her about Iraq and how for the first time in over 25 years the people were able to select their representatives. Tell her about Afghanistan where the same thing has happened and women can now go to school, have jobs and are not beaten in public or killed for doing so.

You have the right idea keep after he!

  8. well after years and years of bullshit you will careless for who vote.

    PS

if you think go to vote not matter what is patriotic or some kind of duty

you need to stop to judge those who stop to vote

and try to understand why many Americans decide to stop voting..

maybe people don't have any knowledge about the candidates

but for sure you don't know how our political system it works..

I see you in the next 50 years to see if you still go to vote...
