Grampian Police get no additional funding for guarding the royal family when they are at Balmoral castle or for policing the North Sea oilfields. Should the royals and the oil companys pay for their own policing?

I think the royal family should pay for their own protection no matter where they are. The money spent on their protection could be used to fund more teachers, nurses, doctors, dentists etc. They are well able to afford to pay for it themselves since they all have large personal fortunes.
