  1. It's not the best idea in the whole world. The meat should have been cooked before she added anything. Other than that it's okay. She should have cooked the meat first so she could have drained off the grease from the meat..now (if the meat gets fully cooked) it's gonna be all greasy. Since it sounds like she doesn't know what she is doing she probably isn't going to get the meat cooked fully. I wouldn't eat it...LOL! You are prob. gonna get sick! Becareful! Good Luck if you do eat it.

  2. it should be fine  but simmer it for at least an hour to make sure the meat gets fully cooked. Keep stirring and keep it cooking until you are ready to eat

  3. The meat will cook if she simmers it long enough, don't worry.

  4. yes it is saf as long as she brings it to a boil and then puts it on medium low.... you know when the meat is cooked because the grease will all float to the top of the pot....

i would cook ot for 45 minutes for every 2 lbs of meat in the pot....

i usually brown the meat and drain THE GREASE AHEAD OF TIME BUT, HER WAY IS FINE, IT WILL JUST BE VERY GREASY...

  5. it is what i do when using the crock pot.  except i add the spices

the last 20 minutes.  this is not for safety,  you are safe provided

the meat is fully cooked no matter when it is added.  i put the

spices in at the last because letting them simmer very long

    causes them to lose flavor.

  6. I always brown my meat first but if she lets it cook long enough it will be fine. If she used ground meat she'll have to keep stirring it to break it up too.

  7. yea it's fine. But it won't taste as good.

The meat, onions, garlic should be browned together before adding spices and beans. Doing this will give a richer, fuller flavor.

  8. yes it is ok,,,it just has to be fully cooked,,,,

  9. to get rid of some of the grease, turn off the heat when it is done and use a ladle to siphon some of the oil. if you don't have to eat it right away, you can refrigerate it for about an hour, and the oil will coagulate at the top of the pot and you can just lift if off.

  10. Well it's usually better to start off with your onions, garlic etc, then add your meat, seal it off then add your other stuff.

It's not unsafe as long as the meat is cooked, but you won't get a particularly decent flavour. Tell her to leave it to simmer for quite some time, this should help.

    Good Luck

  11. Apart from sealing the meat and making sure it is cooked properly, different things take a different time to cook.  The beans for example don't take so long, so they are likely to end up really mushy.

  12. yes it is safe. it just has to cook for over an hour...

  13. Sure, simmering will cook the meat throughly,so don't worry. Just enjoy a hearty bowl when it's ready and think of us!!!

  14. Not unsafe but not as good as it could be

I like to brown the meat and the onions and garlic.   I like to roast the spices.
