No it's not unfair. If rugby league wants to grow as a sport and become more international then it had to do it. It is no good if the sport is only played by three nations, this gives the French the chance to become a good rugby league side again. The comparison with the truely international game of rugby union leaves league in a very poor position.

This is very good for the sport of rugby league.
