i personally thought nastia was better but she did have quite a few form errors when she was kipping up into handstand that the chinese didnt have. but for valeri to go complain and complain that his daughter didnt win does show bad sportsmanship and sore losers. mind you, i adore nastia liukin and im so happy she won gold in the all round and i wished she had one gold in UB but i thought what her dad did was just utter embarresment for himself and his daughter. what about you?

dont speak in a biast manner please

  1. For those Americans with low IQ's, gymnastics isn't all about the dismount.  The Chinese competitor stepping out on a dismount doesn't mean she should lose when her actual routine was better for the difficulty level.

  2. I didn't know he protested and I've been watching every minute of the Olympics. On what grounds?

  3. So you become a world class competitor by whining and challenging every decision that doesn't go your way, lmao.  I hope the first guy isn't  representative of your average American.

I don't think that guy really had confidence that he could overturn the decision, he was just fueled by the media who backed him and tried to start sh**.

  4. Everyone knows Nastia outperformed the Chinese handily. The difficulty mechanism is simply what the Chinese have used to pad out their routines - kind of like grade inflation in US schools. **** up and you still get an A. Ho hum.

The Australian lowballed Nastia - it's patently clear. But inquiry is good and in this case, essential. The Liukins did nothing wrong.

Sticking up for the Chinese/complaining about the Americans in this case is needlessly combative. Any American doing so is doing their best to be obstinate and PC, but for what cause? Trust me, the Chinese don't care.

  5. i agree with you 100%. i dont like nastia very much because she is ALWAYS a poor sport unless she gets gold. you can tell by her facial experssions when she loses. its pretty sad

  6. No one protested, they just questioned what happened and how.  The only thing you can protest in gymnastics is the "A Score" also known as the start value.  Execution scores are not able to be protested.

  7. I'd protest, as long as there is no disadvantage of doing it, which is being the bitter knee-jerk reaction of losing. I'm sure people will remember them doing it, but does it really tarnish Nastia's legacy? I don't think so.

  8. Greedy????!!!!!!   huh????  You surely aren't a gymnast Bob!

YOU TRAIN 6 DAYS A WEEK... FOR 4 YEARS...and you get the SAME score as the girl that won the gold and they give you a silver…and that’s greedy?? Comm’on!!!

Why is it that there can't be 2 gold winners at the Olympics...even if they BOTH get the SAME SCRORE??... I think that "FIG" and the "IOC" need to eliminate that 'tie-breaking" rule.

As the commenters said later that night, if you keep on eliminating scores in order to end up breaking the tie, you're rejecting the opinion of the other 6 judges...AND YOU'RE LEAVING THE DESITION TO ONLY 3 JUDGES.....and in this specific case, all of them with NOT THAT MUCH EXPERIENCE, cause NONE of them had ever had any Olympic champions in gymnastics so far. In a sport as objective as gymnastics, in which scores at the judges’ panel vary as much as they do , it's unfair that you judge someone's routine based ONLY on 3 persons.

If you didn't knew it, judges sometimes miss some of the skills because they were writing the last executed skill and were looking at the piece of paper they were writing on....not looking at the gymnast as they were supposed to. If a judge misses a skill, he NEEDS to score it anyways, based on his own PERSONAL opinion. Many times, if they miss a skill, in order to “judge” it for the paper, they come up with a number taking in consideration how is the routine going so far in general, and also taking in consideration the own body-language of the gymnast they’re evaluating . The audience's reaction and cheers also influences A LOT in this case if the judge missed a skill.  THIS IS WHY THEY TAKE OUT THE HIGHEST AND THE LOWEST SCORES before giving out a final general score…it’s the only measure to prevent errors in judgment and to keep biased judges from favoring their preferred athletes.

It's allowed to have a tie in the World Games and in the World Cup, so...WHY NOT AT THE OLYMPICS TOO!?!?

I think she deserved the gold JUST AS MUCH AS THE CHINESSE GIRL.....no one that isn't a gymnast really knows all the training the time and the MENTAL and PHYSICAL struggles/pain you have to go through just to make your National Team, then to classify for the Olympic trials and finally to get to go to the Olympics and try to win a medal.  BOTH DESERVED THE GOLD...BOTH HAD THE SAME SCORE!

  9. I mean she won gold. Do they have to be so greedy and take gold in every event?

  10. You don't become a world class competitor by sitting on your hands.  It's part of the biz.
