Do you think it was stupid of Football Club Barcelona to let go of Deco?

Yes, I think so. Barcelona was so blinded with Messi that they have forgotten the importance as well as the greatness of Deco.

Deco is a great player whose passing is phenomenal, but he is overlooked as he is not an agile player and he does not dribble as much. It is very sad that players such as Deco and Riquelme are being overlooked. These are the players who play with their brains more than with their bodies. Beckham is another one and players who play with their brains also have something in common, they are set pieces masters.

Many are blinded by the so called great players who dribble more than they think such as Messi, Robinho, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Barcelona will feel the effect of selling Deco as well as Ronaldinho very soon when the La Liga starts. Trust me, Messi won't be able to handle things alone, there's no team which is a one man team, and Guardiola is worryingly creating that kind of team in Barcelona, and the one man is no other than Messi.

No doubt they will regret it at some points but I think they'll do just fine in the end. Does work out well for all parties, Chelsea get a new world class player, Deco gets a new challenge and Barca get to bring new players in (ie Hleb).

Hleb, Xavi and Inestia are good enough players to allow Deco to leave.

Deco is a good player, but Hleb is younger and taller, something Barca's midfield is lacking.

Hleb is also a better goalscorer than Deco.

No, he got himself suspended so that he'd miss the game against Madrid after they'd won the title. He was too ashamed to stand in a guard of Honor for the champions even though Real did it for them when they won it. That kind of attitude in a football player is pathetic and Barca are better off without him.

I think it worked out well for all parties, Chelsea get a great playmaker for cheap (€8million??) Deco seems to be playing well, 2goals in 2 games, and they were great goals.

Barcelona needed to sell him as they did with ronaldihno, they had a poor season last time round and need a fresh up.

Not really. Barca has other good midfielders and Deco is aging. Need to let him go when the offer is good.
