I keep getting these emails telling me that i should not buy any gas on fridays and by doing so it will cause a marginal profit loss and it might send a message. What do you think, should we not buy gas on Fridays?

  1. And that will increase overseas production and lower the price of a barrel of crude oil how? Are you familiar with the phrase "Supply and Demand"? One day, one week...no effect whatsoever on demand.

  2. Of course it would do something!

Everyone would buy gas on Thursday or Saturday instead.

A one-day boycott will have NO impact on the profit margins of the gas companies.

  3. No, we need gas, it doesn't matter if we don't buy on Friday, we would have to all buy on Saturday then.

  4. Boycotts NEVER work and they only hurt the individual gas stations, who have no say in the cost of the gas.

Plus, if everyone stops buying on Fridays they will just buy more on Thursday or Saturday.

Some of us HAVE TO DRIVE. I am self employed and there is no public transportation.

  5. If we all didn't buy gas on Friday all that would do is increase sales on Thursday & Saturday.   If we all cut our consumption by 15% then the price would go up 15%.

The only idea I have seen that makes sense is if we all choose one company, like Mobil, and stopped buying their gas.  This would cause them to either drop their price or sell off their backlog to other companies, or cut production.

If all Americans just refused to buy any gas from one targeted company for one week, we would send shockwaves throughout the industry.  The rest of the companies would immediately fall in line.

  6. It will keep the motor clubs real busy .
