  1. i truly believe that our descendants will be mostly robotic. how else will we survive the journey from star to star? maybe robot is the wrong word, machinelike would probably be better.

  2. Asking a question like that already means that the robot is smarter than you.

  3. I don't think it's impossible. When i look at these futuristic movies (Minority Report, I Robot, etc) i say that if it can be mocked in movies it can't be far from a future invention. About 2yrs back Japan made the first robot to look human and have human movements. she couldnt talk but the fact that she looked all too real was a step forward in completeing a successful robot invention mimicked after humans exactly. I personally think it would cool to have human-like robots around...

  4. what I think your asking is can you create an AI, the ability to build something that has all the features of say R2-D2 is plausible with today's technology, the rockets, the electroshocky thingy, the robotic arm, the computer interface... but to have him make a proper decision is to do with his programming, which is much more difficult to get right.

this is a difficult question, about 30 years ago scientists started work on AI, and said rather boldly they would have something ready by the 90s. it turns out that making an AI is a lot harder than it would first appear. a "learning" program can be made at the moment, the routers used for internet traffic "learn" which paths work best for which packets, based on how successful a path has been in the past for packets of that type. but this program is limited, it doesn't make complex decisions, and has no element of randomness, which all humans seem to possess. I think anything is possible, but I'm not expecting to see a program, inside a robot or not, that is able to think, make decisions or take in and process knowledge in a way that a human would, in my life time
