  1. Yes he is a very good gaolie and deserves better than newcastle

  2. sometimes you have to feel sorry for keepers, he played a blinder yesterday (as he normally does against The Arsenal) with that c rap defence in front of him he still finishes the day with a sore back

  3. I am a lifelong Spurs fan, and, Shay Given is, by far, the best goalkeeper in the Premiership. He ought be at Man Utd, Real Madrid, Barcelona, or, Inter Milan. N.B. How sad to see his Chairman, chucking pints down the back of his throat, on National Television.

  4. Decent keeper at a decent club. No more than that. You'd have a case with Brad Friedel or perhaps even Jussi Jaaskelainen who could have played at a higher level throughout their career, but Given is no bigger than Newcastle. Reina, Cech, van der Saar and Almunia certainly aren't any worse than Given.

  5. There are many players like that whose loyalty has come in the way of success.

Shay Given is definitely one. Much better than Almunia. It's a shame he's stuck at Newcastle. He would have definitely won a few trophies had he been with any of the Big Four.

Steven Gerrard and Carra could have made it big in the league with Chelsea or Manchester United. Outside the EPL, they're successful enough.

    Francesco Totti is yet another.

Sometimes, personal happiness counts for a lot more than a filled-up trophy cabinet, and all these people are happy where they are. I wish them all the best.

  6. hes a great keeper but the big 4 luk happy with their goalies at the moment so newcastle it is

  7. Why is his loyalty to Newcastle a shame? I think it's something to be admired for. Also, Newcastle were a top 4 club at the time he's been there... rather than Chelsea and Liverpool now

  8. shay given, i agree, is a great goalkeeper.

could certainlt be a great addition to a top club. However, i do not agree that it is a shame that he is at newcastle. IMHO NUFC is a great club!

  9. yes i bet he would!

  10. Yes.

Shay Given is a great goalie.  Had it not been for him, Arsenal would have won by 6 or 7 goals.

  11. I think he has been a big fish in a small pool, but slowly the tide is turning, and he will show his worth.

  12. Yes , he deserves better.

  13. Well I think Newcastle are a pretty decent side! Atleast over the years he has got to prove he is a top goalkeeper with all those shocking defenders in front of him over the years! Yes he is definitely one of the best and would make it at a Manchester United or Arsenal most certainly.

I don't think he will leave because I reckon he loves the club to much.

  14. Good keeper, but imo he would never cut it playing every week for any of the big 4 teams...

  15. Not a shame,as he has chose to stay there. I'm sure over the years he's had chances to move on to bigger clubs.

  16. yes i think he could get into any of the top teams in england (not downing Newcastle btw..) but if he is happy at newcastle there is no reason for him to feel the need to leave

  17. definitly but unlike most of the lads out there today he has a rare quality-loyalty. you could argue he lacks ambition, doesnt want a challenge or is just retarded but at the end of the day if i had my pick between him or berbatov i know who i'd pick...
