Do you think its ok for fathers to hit their daughters?

I really want to know. I understand girls shouldn't be rude and talk back I get it. But what about if you are 5 and 6 and don't know better and your father hits you? You are a little girl. How does a man look at a little child and just hit them? I just want to know from parents out their your opinion. From little 4 and 5 year olds to teenager girls, do you think it is ok for their fathers to hit them?

Young kids shouldn't get hit. A father should forcefully explain to them not to do something. If she still doesn't get it a few years later, then corporal punishment, within reason, is OK. Same applies to sons of course.

It's never OK to arbitrarily hit a child IMHO. If they say something that a parent disagrees with, I think the parent should discuss why this is wrong, the other way, all the kid learns is that they better watch their mouth, or somebody bigger will hit them. And that if somebody smaller says something they don't like, it's alright to hit (not every kid, but quite a few).

hitting a child or beating a child , no !!  spanking a child , yes. my dad spanked me and i see nothing wrong with it. it is a ..training..that we sometimes need to see a lesson in whatever we did wrong.

No, it is not okay for a father to hit a daughter OR a son, nor it is okay for a mother to hit her daughter or son.

Naturally, a parent should never abuse a child under any circumstances, that would be wrong.  But  spanking, which is a swat/two on the bottom, is acceptable by any parent, mom or dad, when used in rare occasions.  The gender of parent and child mean nothing.

NO!  That is never a father's prerogative.( this is entirely inappropriate) A father is supposed to be there for their daughters to run to.  

Those hands and arms are meant to support and build strong independent women who know what love is by example.  My daughters can run to my arms at any age.  I do not want them running into the wrong hands or arms to be hurt or sexually taken advantage of.  That's where they go to get out a bad situation.  Then as adults they experience the same thing.  Do you want that for them?

Movies I'd suggest you watch .  Radio flyer and Urban cowboy.  If this make you feel uncomfortable, then you know the answer.  I was sick inside.

Edit:  I am not saying daughters should not be disciplined.  Hitting them is wrong.
