  1. OMG, your avatar is soooooooo adorable! Okay, to answer your question, no, it's not okay to be loud in a library. If children are misbehaving, they should be admonished, and so should their parents. If they are old enough to behave properly, it's okay to leave them in the kiddie section while you browse somewhere else, provided it is safe enough. And cell phone use? NOOOO! If you must use your cell phone, go outside or in a lobby so you don't bother other patrons.

  2. No, it isn't all right for children to be loud in the library and the librarians should tell the children to be quiet.  If the kids can't behave themselves they and their parents should be given the boot.  Cell phone use in the library should be eliminated.

  3. no.its not okay to be loud in a place of study and reading.

  4. children shouldn't really be too loud anywhere.  i can understand if they are playing, but temper tantrums are unacceptable.

i think libraries SHOULD be quiet.  i HATE when i'm trying to study and people come in on their cell phones, really loudly, talking about all their business and stuff.  very rude.

  5. No cell phone in the library. At least in the past that was a place where everyone would go ''Psst''. Things have changed now I guess but normally even a conversation is not allowed in a library.. one should be quiet..  and little children should either be occupied by looking at a childrens book. If they can read they will be quiet most likely and parents should not be out of eyesight, therefore not leave them unsupervised as they might pull all kinds of books out and cause a mess for the shelvers. Cell phones should only be allowed to be used in case of an emergency.

  6. Cell phone use in a library?? Never. I would say it was unacceptable. It's rude and usually loud, even as in public transport, restaurants, shops etc, when it's a hugely public place. It is polite if on your mobile to go outside or find a secluded spot where a) you won't be disturbed and b) other people won't be disturbed by you. Otherwise the correct response is to quickly arrange a time to phone back and hang up.

As for children, it depends. If they are in the children's area of the library and they're small kids, no, they shouldn't be admonished. But the older they are, the more they should know better. From an early age I was taken to the library, and learnt that you are meant to be quiet. It is only polite when people are trying to read or study. I don't beliegve in absolute silence, or overly whispering, but you should try to keep your voice down.

  7. Cell phone use is absolutely inappropriate

Noisy people should be asked to be quiet and then asked to leave if they continue, whatever their age.

  8. I think that you have to respect the rules of the library. If it says it is a quiet area, then you need to be quiet.

I don't think that parents should leave young children unsupervised in a library.

  9. .I THINK A LIBRARY SHOULD BE QUITE.

IF THE KIDS ARE TO LOUD, THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO LEAVE.

PARENTS SHOULD KEEP THEIR KIDS WITH THEM AT ALL TIMES.

CELL PHONES SHOULD BE SHUT OFF WHILE YOU ARE IN THE LI BARY

  10. No, it's not OK.  Loud children should be admonished, and their parents should be supervising them at every moment.  Cell phone use is a definite no-no.

My local library seems to be the place in which kids who don't have after-school supervision hang out, and it's disgraceful.

  11. Everyone should be quiet in a library.  Parents can decide if their children are responsible enough to be unsupervised.  People should go outside to talk on their cellphone.

  12. No,it isn't.A Library is one of the few places left where you can go ,do some serious work and in a quite atmoshere undistrubed.Loud children should be admoished. Most Libraries have a child section with games and quite toys and books, that's why you are there.Take the cell phone outside. Why do you need to be connected to the phone 24 hours a day? Don't you find that odd? I do.Can you not do ANYTHING by yourself?I would find that odd.I see people in the toliet all the time just yakking away!I hate to say it but I just don't understand what is so important you can't have some time without the phone.I know its a different culture but it is also a sad one.
