Its a theory I've had for a long time. Perhaps one or two dinosaurs survived and so are the foundation of stories about knights killing dragons and all that in ancient times?

Possible?

  1. This is a theory many believe, coz you can find this dragon figures and influences not only in china or japan but also in ancient european culture. How could that possible for pple seperated by thousands of miles and no contact with each other know about same animal with superb similarities, hav u  ever think about that?. Another example is, take the case of yeti and bigfoot...pple say they looks like human with lots of hair with better muscular body.these are the physical features of neaderthals and the species closely related to modern humans. They could be the last specimens of extict animals.

  2. Yes its possible but given the millions of years since the dinosaurs were the dominant life whatever is the basis of dragon myths might be what evolved from descendants of the Cretaceous Extinction Event?

  3. well yes as the crocodile and other reptiles are known to be dinosaurs of mutated or other types of a dinosaur

  4. NO, I DON'T THINK SO

  5. dear freind dragons are not myth but are reality. I am telling you this not because i am a believer of myths but as a firm believer of science. I have proof of it. Archaeologist have found a whole body of a dead dragon in a cave of a mountain in europe.  Due to cold weather the dead body remained safe. Sciencetist found that dragons have a abitlity to produce hydrogen gas this allowed them to fly in air dispite of their bulky body. This gas also allowed them to produce fire from their mouth with the help  of pieces of some specific stone they use to keep in their mouth. This remain of dragon is kept in a museum in UK.

  6. More likely is fossils.  Think of pteranodons (winged dinosaurs) they could have been the basis for creatures like the harpies.  Ancient societies often dug into the ground for supplies and it is not hard to imagine the things they would have thought finding such bones and fossilized remains.

  7. yeah anythings possible, this seems very likely.

I was just thinking scientests would have found remanants, but the knights and such probably ate the dragons and stuff.

I really like your theory I'm surprised I've never heard it from anyone else before.

  8. yessir..thats possible..but ppl also tell stories bout santa claus..that was prolly a drunk fat guy in a red sweat suit riding a deer

  9. Its been discovered.and they were not dinorsaurs.they lived during the dinorsaur times.even uptill the late 15th century.they may still exist.

  10. I share your views fully. There might have been a lurking dinosaur here or there five millennia ago. But they couldn't have survived, their species might not have propagated or were killed in encounters with men. Only their memory was conveyed to later generations as folklore. Folklore was a powerful medium in pre-historical civilisations. Now we don't have any except what was handed down as religion. There is no need now for folklore, what with all kinds of proliferating media.

Surprisingly, there are no 'dragons' in Indian mythology. But, there are plenty of snakes, oodles of them in Indian folklore.

As per Indian book of genesis, 'Prajapatis' are progenitors of all life forms. One such, 'Kasyap' (Caspian?) had two wives. Though living together they were rivals, while pregnant even. The younger one (Kadru) wanted her sons to be powerful and long-bodied. Kasyap blessed her with myriad snakes. The elder (Vinata) bore her eggs (Yes, they bore & delivered 'eggs' then!) patiently with much labour. Even she was tricked into her slavery by her co-wife. Cutting the long story short, Vinata's second son when he broke open from egg showed his enormous power with his vast wings. He was 'Garud' (the Eagle), rival & enemy of snakes. Here is the parallel to Zeus' powerful eagle. One can see Garud's statue perched atop the peripheral wall of a temple, even in countries like Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia where the Indian culture made an alternate home. Indonesia's national airline is named 'Garud'.

  11. Maybe. I do think dragons used to roam the Earth because every culture has dragons.
