I just saw The Day After Tomorrow, and i have to tell you i was freaked the F*** out!! its really sad, and true. Could this actually happen??how do we stop it besides driving hybrid cars( which if ppl really cared about the earth every household should get a free hybrid car lmao), and recycling.

  1. Unfortunately, with the way this world seems so troubled as of late, the possibility of nuclear winter may end up being the outcome of global warming.

  2. Yeah, neira a,  Don't worry. Go ahead and believe that it all doesn't matter. It's so much easier to do nothing then learning how to conserve and recycle. After all, why should we all worry what the generations that come after us will have to deal with??

Seriously, movies can distort the truth to be entertaining but I would not put "An Inconvenient Truth" in that category. If you're freaked out great...educate yourself on recycling, conserving energy, and buy from companies who sell green friendly products.

It MATTERS what each of us do in our lives.

  3. If global warming IS a trend then it will resolve itself. The question I have is how can scientists tell how warm it was 500 or 1,000 years ago? How can we know that if there were instruments to measure temp that they were more or less accurate than we have today? Furthermore, most global data is relatively contemporary with many stations only recently coming online. Global warming is the doomsday fad for a generation. It will pass and we will find some other fear to try to save ourselves from.

  4. It obviously did not get you to think too hard if it freaked you out.  Sad?  It is one of the worst acting jobs I've ever seen.  There was more emotion in the old WWII Army movie about getting the clap.  I care about the Earth and environment but wouldn't be caught dead in an ugly hybrid.  Incidentally, who the h**l is going to pay for all those "free hybrids" you are proposing as the solution to all our troubles?

  5. I just saw "The Cockroach that Ate Cincinnati".  It freaked ME out.  I think we need to stop these kinds of monsters NOW!

  6. global warming i dont think can be stopped but we can stop helping it becoming faster, this requires global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

    POSITIVE ACTIONS

if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

    the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

    education on environmental awareness

education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

    recicling wastes,limit water use

  7. I am sorry, but how can anyone believe what Hollywood turns out as fact.  Their whole industry is based on fiction.  That includes "an inconvenient truth".  We can all speculate on what the earth  will be if temperatures rise, but the facts show nothing will happen.  One thousand years ago, the temperatures were so warm that the Vikings colonized Greenland.  Here is a report:

  8. 1st,

The Day After Tomorrow is a joke, and is junk science at best.

2nd, the funniest thing about hybrid cars is that more energy is consumed in their manufacture than in standard cars, and the energy/carbon output is greater when you consider the costs associated with production.  Zinc and other metals essential to the production of fuel cells will not benefit from the economy of scale in other auto production.  Mass production of hybrid cars will do more harm than good.

3rd, what is so bad about warming?  Imagine if more of Canada, Iceland, and Greenland was available to farm?  Imagine the food needs that could be met by producing more food for more people on the earth with increased growing seasons and more freshwater in the hydro cycle.  It is more expensive to prevent global warming than it is to adapt.  I reccomend Bjorn Lomberg's (sp?) book.  He is a uber enviornmentalist and scientist that looks at global warming from a cba perspective.

How many people die from warming, and how many people die from cooling?  If more people die from cooling, then warming is better than cooling.

  9. When a person smokes for years, they cause their lungs to lose their elasticity to push air out of the body.  They physically get a barrel chest and the red blood cells are compromised in their capacity to handle oxygen.  To reverse the disease I have described is to stop smoking.  The younger you are and the longer you stop smoking the better your chances to "stop" or reverse the disease process.  This is a good example of your question on global warming.  The short answer is that we must reverse the carbon build up in the atmosphere before we can theoretically stop global warming.  Being conscientious about energy usage and reading as much as you can on the issue would be a start. Brazil is energy independent, Germany is transitioning to solar power and France, the size of Texas is nuclear powered and they recycle the nuclear waste instead of dumping it in the mountains.  The USA is behind in this area thus not in compliance with the Kyoto Agreement among nations because the chief objective from this administration has been to rely on oil and gas friendly policy.

  10. No, it's not possible, because global warming is a political issue. Follow the money trail, and find out who's behind these types of things. (Al Gore owns the company that sells carbon offsets.) Do you think China or other countries that desire to conquer the USA are worried about all of these issues? 30 years ago, "they" said we were all going to freeze to death. It didn't sell then, so now it's been repackaged and sold to a new generation. The idea behind this is more governmental controls over our lives, and thus higher taxes and eventually totalitarianism. In some other country, I don't recall which, they are taxing backyard barbeques for pollution. We as humans, exhale carbon dioxide, so what's next: a tax on breathing? They, the elite liberals, not conservatives, are not planning to cut back on their energy consumption, but they preach to us, the common people about it. They don't plan to cut back because they know it's a lie. The sky is not falling, and global warming is the least of our worries.
