  1. I'm fine with chicks. I say chicks, and i am a woman. To explain to you how uptight you are being I will tell you a story.

I work in retail, and my common approach line is "Do you guys need help with anything?"

I use this line dozens of times a day. But one day, just one day, one woman took extreme offense to it. She felt 'guys' was an extremely rude and masculine term, and chewed me out in front of why whole department. She then reported me. My manager told her I would be dealt with appropriately, and then called me into the office, where we discussed the various objects that may be stuck in that woman's orifices.

Would you ever scream at a clerk who referred to a group of people (including you) as 'guys'?

Slang is not meant to annoy or p**s you off. Please loosen up.

  2. Oh please!!! Stop being so hypersensitive!

Let me guess - you feel "emotionally scarrred".

Young people are turning in to such wimpy, milquetoast babies it's pathetic. Pretty soon you'll be trying to say they shouldn't call you "girls" because that's sexist.

    Yes, you are being uptight!

  3. It's a pretty common term.

Only chicks who are really up tight are bothered by it.

  4. It doesn't bother me particularly.  It's not a very offensive term, especially if someone is saying "chicks and dudes" or something like that.

Some people might disagree, but I think that it's a bit extreme to find this offensive, unless someone is saying the word in a derisive or belittling manner.

  5. Unless they are saying it in a sarcastic way, no.  They are adults they should model adult behavior....the same goes for "dudes".

  6. I don't mind. It's normal to say that. I really don't mind. If a teacher tells me I'm HOT, so what? I'd rather think of it as a compliment.

    Get a grip!

  7. Sure, I see no problem with it.

  8. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DON'T THINK SO! SOMEONE SHOULD CORRECT HIM.

  9. No I do not. We are humans not furry little critters. When someone refers to women with those terms they are under valueing women.

  10. if that person doesn't mind. I see nothing wrong with it .

  11. chicks is more of a casual term, so if it is used in a casual setting then it is appropriate.  Some think that the classroom is a casual setting, while others see it more as a professional environment.  Now if the question is really asking "is chicks a disrespectful term to refer to women?" perhaps in an older generation but in society now it is a socially acceptable term depending on the situation.  However, the situation in this case is open to one's own perception, thus your answer will be based on your perception of the situation.
