Not that I am expecting people to get free money to who are too lazy to getup and do work, but there are simply some people(actually a lot of people) who don't get the opportunities to go out and volunteer all the time. Not all people live in rich upper class and middle class suburbs with supportive parents who will drive their children all over the place for service hours. Also, many people are simply quiet and reserved people who don't go out feeding homeless all the time, but that does not mean they are immoral, lazy, and stupid people undeserving of college admissions and scholarships.

  1. Don't expect a lot of support.

  2. If your parents won't drive you, then ride your bike or take a bus. Not only rich people volunteer. People who go the extra step are the ones who deserve the "free money." It has nothing to do with being lazy or immoral. It has to do with bettering yourself and your community and going the extra step towards a goal.

If you don't like homeless people, there are hundreds of other causes you can volunteer with. Try a student activist group - you can just sit and listen if you want.

  3. You are the one who is being lazy! Why aren't you helping people who actually can't help themselves? You ARE getting

"free" money in the form of a scholarship! Try volunteering in a hospital if you are so afraid of homeless people. You can be homeless very easily these days. Miss a couple weeks pay, and many people end up on the streets.
