Do you think its weird for someone to "brush up" on conversation topics before leaving the house?

for ex: spending time looking it up on the internet or watching the show that everybody likes.

the idea sounds a little unsettling to me. i want to do it (to get over my shyness... i always run out of things to say.) but it feels like brushing up on conversation topics is like going out of your way for others to like you.

I think that is a great idea, nothing wrong with being prepared. Try to get a variety though, not all politics or all celebrity gossip, and if other people know more don't try to keep up just say "wow, I didn't know that" and "that's interesting."

It's not a bad idea as long as you don't pretend to be into the show or into talking about the show if you're really not into it. Then it might seem weird.  If you don't care about it and talk about it just to be more talkative when you don't really care it might seem fake.

It's fine, especially if you want to get over your shyness.  Everyone goes out of their way a little bit to get people to like them anyway.

Of course not- if you feel more comfortable having a knowledge of your friends intrests then that is your preogative. But talk about your own interests and get other people interested- intergrate them into converastions that you are having for example

"Ooh- have you seen? ......."

If they say no then,

"Well you should. It has/is   etc....."

this is just a way of becoming aquainted with other people's interest

if you like these same things, theres no problem with looking up more about them

Do you think that you should go out, you way,just be your self if people want to meat you, they will and you will find that you know a lot more than you think.Just give your self time and rush into something you don,t want.
