Do you think its weird to have chickens as pets??

My mum suggested it and i was like, no way! But since we got them they are sooo adorable and i love them to bits! Lol

Having chickens as pets is fine the thing you have to watch out for are predators like raccoons hawks. Having a chicken as a pet can be fun They are engaging friendly and entertaining and they pay there way with eggs. They will even come running if they think you have a treat for them. I had 3 hens when I lived in Nevada they were so much fun my little red hen name tilly was a very sweet chicken she would sit on the porch when I was out there my little dog would sit next to her and she would peck my dog. so yes they are fun to have and own as pets. Just make sure you have a place for them to sleep at night and that no predators can get them..

My mom did when she was little because she lived on a farm but I don't think that's wierd because I know a bunch of people who do. Their cute and all but really tough to take care of!! Good Luck and don't think it's wierd to have chickens as pets.

We have had ton of chickens as "pets" since I was a kid...The can even be taught to do some tricks! Jump, come, lay on their back...silly little things.

We have had ones that will do anything for a bite of ground beef, and others that loved ice cream...pretty funny to see a Rooster get "brain freeze" eating ice cream too quick...And others that were more refined and liked a few sips of Red wine with dinner...

They can be great pets, and tame quickly when handled properly.

no chickens are cool pets they lay egg's so you can save money i dont see wants wrong with having chickens as pets

If you love them like you would any other pet, then it would be weird to eat them because you'd be eating part of your family, but no matter what pet you have, all that matters is that you love them like family members and make sure they get great care.  :) That's what all pets deserve.

Nope. lived in Ca. as a kid and chickens and ducks as pets. They were of course not the same ones we were going to eat. There are some pretty cool looking chickens, my favorites were the Silver Barred Plymouth Rock. Not the fanciest but good looking anyway. Crested Polish are cool too.

I like ducks better though. Smarter, friendlier and I think ducks are about the most beautifull birds in general.  Yeah Pheasants Swans and many parrots are pretty too. But ducks just have a classy look.

I have chickens as pets and I don't think its weird at all. Tons of people keep them as pets. Its not unusual, at least not here in KY.
