My daughter is 7. We live in Arizona therefore most of the shirts she owns are tank tops! plus, all of the cutest kids cloths are tanks or halters. Her school doesn't allow it. I think its silly... I could understand half shirts but tank tops??? whats the harm in a tank top?

  1. yeah? try being in florida! we cant even wear half sleeves at my school! i think we should be allowed during hot months but it doesnt matter to me scince i dont really like those

  2. I grew up my whole life in Arizona and I always thought it was ridiculous. It's 115 outside so you want to wear as little as possible, and it's hard to find clothes that adhere to the dress codes. I had problems with finding shorts that reached my fingertips and shirts that weren't tanks, spaghetti straps, etc. I agree with you, it's silly.

  3. Spaghetti straps no i don't agree with those or muscle shirts for boys.  Tanks tops though I think should be allowed during hot months because even here in Ohio the start of the school year is usually very hot and the schools have horrible A/C systems and then at the end of the year again same thing.  I don't agree with spaghetti straps though as I just feel like those fall down a lot and just don't look good at all.  School is suppose to be preparation for life and their future when they get older and start working so they are still suppose to dress "respectfully".  I think that as long as the shirts aren't low cut and aren't showing any belly they should be ok but they are just getting very picky anymore and many schools are adding uniforms now because of dress code violations.  Your daughter is lucky that she is allowed to wear tanks that reach the shoulders, here they can't even wear tanks like that...the handbook states "no TANK TOPS allowed" and that includes all of them.  It has to be t-shirts or longsleeves only.

  4. i live in az too and at my kids school they have to wear uniforms. polo shirts!

  5. well, it goes with the whole "appropriateness" thing...

Here, in South Carolina, our shorts and skirts for a girl must be at least to where our fingers don't touch skin straight down.

and tank tops cannot show any underclothing.

and must be 3 fingers of the child laid flat on it.

  6. One of my old schools said that you cant wear them because kids don't put on sunblock and its harming their skin.

  7. we live in socal and have the same rule at school. i never understood it but the sunblock thing sounds reasonable now that i think about it. but i know alot of girls in my daughters class still wear them anyways (dont allow mine because it IS a rule and they have to learn to follow them even if they dont agree)

  8. I don't allow my girls to wear spaghetti strap tanks at home, so I obviously would agree that it isn't appropriate for school.

  9. they think they are exposing too much of there body and will end up attracting guys at inopportune times in class or such

  10. No, not allowed at our elementary school either. Just get cute short sleeved tops.

  11. that is Bull c**p i say
