Question:

Do you think lying about ones age is a bit underhanded?

Both McCain and his wife Cindy lied to each other about their respective ages during their courtship. I think the bio at the RNC said Cindy aged herself by 4 years, McCain lopped off 4 years from his true age. Is this the way to start a marriage, built on trust?

When people go to great lengths to cover up something as pertinent as age, what else will they lie about?

I don't think I'm old-fashioned, since they are quite a bit older than me.

I'm sure folks will come up with "excuses" but big lies almost always start with little lies.

For the curious, I'm 52, never lied about my age, I mean why???

Oh what a tangled web we weave...

  1. Can you start a treason ballot so we can vote to kick these terrible people out of the country, please?

There is no greater crime than lying to get a chick.

  2. No, it's absolutely no way to start a marriage. I think that 28 year marriage is going to end any day because of that vile lie about their respected ages.

I don't think it's worth the trouble to lie about my age either, but are you honestly saying that because John and Cindy McCain lied about their ages when they first met, 28 years ago, that not only is their marriage in trouble but they have been telling bigger lies every since? Really! Do you listen to yourself when you talk?

  3. Did you ever think that she wanted him to like her and thought he wanted an older woman and he thought he was too old for and made him self younger.  Cindy and John didn't have to tell the truth how they felt but they did.  You're just making too much of this but sometime it depends on the situation  and timing.  I thought it was cute of them and trying impress each other.  I'm sure you lied in other ways in your life. Don't be this kind indifferent thinker as it doesn't make sense. The Democrats are trying to find every thing wrong with a good thing in life and destroy some thing good for America.  Vote McCain Palin 2008.

  4. With all that lying about age, I wonder if he mentioned he was married.  His divorce from his first wife was only weeks before his marriage to Cindy.

  5. And this is relevant to the elections because...?

Anyways, you really think that one insignificant lie is going to blow up their entire marriage? I'm sorry, but you'd have to have serious mental problems to believe it will. Everyone has lied at least once in their marriage. But I guess politicians are supposed to be Gods, right? Never make any mistakes, never do anything wrong, be the perfect human beings.

    edit:

And you've never once lied in your life? As I am certain that you have lied in your lifetime, I can only ask why you would be so hypocritical as to judge someone for doing something everyone on the planet does daily.

  6. It is human nature. People put their best foot forward to capture their prize or meet their objective.... Women do it all the time. It is called vanity or pride...

Personally , I don't think there should be any lying as it tends to undermine trust. That is in part, why I don't care for Obama and for that matter most politicians as they were usually lawyers at one time. Lawyers are taught and trained to fight to win and they are allowed to lie or distort facts to win...It becomes engrained in their personality and mixes up the moral ethics we try to teach...

  7. if this really matters, then we are in big trouble as a country. Who cares about something so trivial?

What about Clinton lying about having s*x with an intern? The highest form of sexual harrassment there is?? Most people didn't even care about THAT!

I think this is a moot point and one that obviously hasn't stopped the McCain's from loving each other and creating a large close family. Don't you think they told everyone because....they found out the truth....and maybe laughed at themselves for being young and foolish???

  8. Yes, I do. People do it on internet dating sites and it usually gets them in trouble. What's the line?....if they would lie about age they will lie about other things. Dating while still married is another 'great' character marker and they did it for 7-8 months before McCain asked his wife for a divorce. I will say they seem happy despite his well known temper.

  9. Was the question why you never lied about your age?

Could be you had nobody to lie to about it?

  10. haha..and how long ago was that? It obviously had no affect, considering that they are still married. What is the point of posting such nonsense?

  11. That's some pretty trivial BS you just posted....do you REALLY care?

  12. Well then, you must be happy you didn't marry either one of them.  Why do you care about what they did during their courtship? Do you have too much free time on your hands?

  13. who gives a rats patooty?

    mccain/palin '08

  14. I often ask when people lie about the little things, how can you trust them to tell the truth about the big things?

I suppose it just depends on how important the truth is to you.

  15. I think lying about one's age in a courtship is a question that better belongs in dating than in elections.

But lying during romance?  ROFLMAO.  Everyone does it.  Remember Billy "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" Clinton?  The Edwards love child?

  16. I completely agree with you.  Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

  17. geez as long as i dont have to do either of them i dont care how old they are...and i dont lie about my age either but i have known alot of people that age is a sore spot..but whatever floats your boat

  18. Yes. But their entire relationship was based on lies. McCain was married when he started dating Cindy McCain.

  19. I noticed that too.. I thought it was ackward how it was taken... If you allow yourself to lie about something so small, is it somehow differant if the issue is differant?? I don't get it... A lie is a lie.. It's immoral either way...

I guess I could see if their intentions were decent.. But I don't see how lying about age would be considered anything but deceitfull...  ??

  20. I feel like many of the posters who responded to your question missed the point completely. I think the point you were trying to make just flew over their heads.

Nothing better than a few simple minded Republicans, 'eh?

It's not about the age itself that you're speaking about, it's the fact that they lied about something so idiotic, and for so long.

The point you were trying to make is clear: What makes us think they won't lie about other simple things, or glaze over the complete truth?

McCain was a POW, true, but did he go through the amount of torture that he claimed he did? No. He was a POW after rules and regulations have been established. His fellow POW's had been there so much longer than he had been -- and they are expressing their rage.

I just hope Republicans will do the impossible and READ something that is not a LIE. I think they are so used to the aspect of a lie that they totally forgot what the truth really sounds like. To them, the truth probably sounds like a lie!

It does worry me, the fact that McCain will lie about his POW status, and that he will lie about something so simple. Why exaggerate the fact that he was a POW? I mean, being one, simply is honorable, but exaggerating it to the point that it becomes disrespectful to his fellow POW's? -- I wonder what else he can do to disrespect us Americans as a country.

  21. I've never lied about my age either, but if that is what they did and now they know the truth 29 years later, then who really gives a d**n? I don't.

  22. that is pretty weird..  I wonder why they would do that?

  23. No.  I lie to people every day when I say I'm 29.  And you have NOTHING better to ***** about as far as this election is concerned?  LOL.

  24. "...when first we begin to deceive." -Thoreau

No truer words have been spoken. As my parents always said, if you can lie about the small things, what's to stop you from lying about the big things?

  25. John and Cindy have been married for over 30 years, and you're right, a lie they told each other 30 years ago to impress each other is a sure sign that these are evil, vicious people who will absolutely destroy America.  It has been scientifically proven that lying about one's age to impress a love interest is a precursor to sociopathy later in life, and America would do well to fear and tremble at the thought of these degenerates moving into the White House.

  26. Who cares! WE know his age don't we!
