  1. I think the Yankees deserve the dreadlocked freak. Signing overpriced, declining talent is their specialty.


  2. I wouldn't be surprised if he did. He's having a lot of success with the Dodgers so far, but I think he'll go to the Yanks over the Dodgers in 09.

  6. Your answer comes down to 2 things:  

    #1 - Will the Yanks pay him what he wants? Minimum $20 Mill per year or more

    #2 - Will Manny cut his dreadlocks?  Heck NO!!  So, NO...he won't play for the Yanks.  

  7. Anything can happen in baseball. Is it really that big of a deal if he does?

  8. God I hope not. Although it would be interesting to see if both Manny;s  and Hank Steinbrenner's ego can fit in the same stadium

  9. Not a chance. There is a better chance he will play for the Mets or re-up with the Dodgers. There are quite a few reasons why the Yankees will not sign him:

    1) They are looking to unload salary next season to the tune of $84 million. Giambi and Abreu are two of the names that will probably not be in pinstripes next season.

    2) Xavier Nady has probably secured LF or RF for next season and with Matsui and Damon also playing OF/DH. Justin Christian will probably be the centerfielder if the Yankees do not test the market and Carbrera will be gone.

    3) The Steinbrenner's will not stand for "Manny being Manny." The dreads, the lack of hustle, the loose uniform, and the clubhouse headaches will never fly with Yankees management and a classy bunch of championship/polished veterans like Jeter, Posada, Pettitte, and Girardi.

I think there's a chance, but he's not getting the 100 million dollars he and his soulless agent are looking for.    But the Yankee outfield will be awfully crowded in 2009 with Damon, Matsui, and Manny all on the team.  I suppose they could trade Damon and make Matsui the full-time DH, but I'm not sure I want to see Damon traded anymore.   If we did keep them all, it would only be for 2009, so I guess it's manageable.
