Do you think media is making us get scared of global warming ?

Well I think that the media is scaring us. Isn't it a cycle that earth goes cold and warm then goes cold and warm again ? Well if you think its real post and if you think is fake then please post 2 :) If GLOBAL WARMING is real how come a lot of sciencetists thinks that it is fake... So there are really few percent that it could be real and A LOT of percent that it is fake

P.S. Im writing this quick i dont care if it dosen't make sense but just try and figure it out :)

I think the global warming debate and the production of hybrid cars and development of fuel cells are all stalling tactics used to take attention from the actual problem - Pollution [whether it heats earth or not] and the actual solution - all-electric, battery-powered cars.

Global warming is different than natural cycling of hot and cold periods.  Global climate change will be an extreme change of weather and the way that the planet is working.  Climate change is being caused by an increased amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, causing more heat retained in the troposphere.  

There are really only a few scientists who think it is fake.  If you look at the actual numbers, most of the scientific community accepts it as fact.  However, a couple of scientists are denying it (they are probably being paid), and because of this, people who don't think global warming is happening can say "scientists say that it won't happen".  (This is even if they are only talking about one or two scientists).

Yes, there are cycles of cool and warm, but at no time in mans history has CO2 reached this ppm and that is just 50% of the greenhoude gasses and many of these gasses reduce the ozone layer. Global warming is just one of our problems, peak oil is another. Yellowstone blowing her top is just another. I do not know why the media is stuck on just GW. We need a balanced reality check. Earth is capable of healing its self if we help it.

global warming is a natural cycle. it has happened before and is happening again. HOWEVER, it is the pace that is being impacted by humans. we are making the situation much much much worse, and we are making it happen much much faster.

yes i do think the media is scaring us. yet, not enough improvements have been made to start the world in an environmentally safe direction. therefore, i think that scaring us is not a bad thing.

people need to be scared. we need to stop and cry out that we need to help our planet. for if we dont, hurricances like the devastating Hurricane Katrina will happen several times a year, and every year. we need to be scared that coasts will be whiped out, our great grandkids wont know the joy of snowdays. they will only be able to read in books about a bear that once existed that was a cream white and lived on ice caps.

we need to be scared, but more solutions have to be projected as well. not just what will happen, but how to prevent it.

the media is scaring us, and i am glad, for it is what we need.

cyborg troy :::::: the "actual solution" is electric cars??? yes that would help with pollution, but all that energy powering every house as they plug their cars in at night is not gunna help. do more research babe.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but almost every single scientist thinks Global Warming IS real, and I agree with them. The Media is really just making the rest of the world aware of what is going on due to the over use of plastics, carbon emissions, and the lack of attention to the problems of green house gasses from the general public. It is a great thing that the media makes such a big deal of Global Warming.

for once, i think its a good thing that the media is scaring us. we need to be scared, because looking at the cars people are driving, it doesn't seem as though anyone cares about the planet. and about the scientists... if a UN science panel thinks its real, i'm believing it. in my state the weather is weird, and back in Moscow we haven't had snow for 2 winters in a row, whereas normally we get FEETS of it... so i think there's a change, and its too rapid for it to be happening naturally

No not really, i believe that it's really happenin' because we are puluting the air WAY to much right now. I think that they need to start making A WHOLE LOT more hybrid cars so then we can be green nice -]] lol saves the polution!

There are many basic scientific facts which can only be explained if the current global warming is being caused by an increased greenhouse effect due to carbon dioxide accumulating in the atmosphere from humans burning fossil fuels.

For example, the planet is warming as much or more during the night than day.  If the warming were due to the Sun, the planet should warm a lot more during the day when the Sun has influence.  Greenhouse gases trap heat all the time, so they warm the planet regardless of time of day.  Another example is that the upper atmosphere is cooling because the greenhouse gases trap the heat in the lower atmosphere.  If warming were due to the Sun, it would be warming all layers of the atmosphere.

Scientists have a good idea how the Sun and the Earth's natural cycles and volcanoes and all those natural effects change the global climate, so they've gone back and checked to see if they could be responsible for the current global warming.  What they found is:

Over the past 30 years, all solar effects on the global climate have been in the direction of (slight) cooling, not warming.  This is during a very rapid period of global warming.

So the Sun certainly isn't a large factor in the current warming.  They've also looked at natural cycles, and found that we should be in the middle of a cooling period right now.

So it's definitely not the Earth's natural cycles.  They looked at volcanoes, and found that

a) volcanoes cause more global cooling than warming, because the particles they emit block sunlight

b) humans emit over 150 times more CO2 than volcanoes annually

So it's certainly not due to volcanoes.  Then they looked at human greenhouse gas emissions.  We know how much atmospheric CO2 concentrations have increased over the past 50 years:

And we know from isotope ratios that this increase is due entirely to human emissions from burning fossil fuels.  We know how much of a greenhouse effect these gases like carbon dioxide have, and the increase we've seen is enough to have caused almost all of the warming we've seen over the past 30 years (about 80-90%).  You can see a model of the various factors over the past century here:

This is enough evidence to convince almost all climate scientists that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.

I KNOW HOW TO SOLVE GLOBAL WARMING!!! WHAT DO MAMMALS EXHALE WHILE BREATHING; ANSWER CO2. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 7 BILLION HUMANS ON EARTH, IF WE COULD ALL JUST HOLD OUR BREATH FOR ABOUT SEVEN MINUTES (GLOBAL WARMING WOULD BE OVER IMMEDIATELY). JUST KIDDING DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH - JUST A JOKE. BUT, CO2 IS SUPPOSEDLY THE LARGEST CONTRIBUTER TO THE GLOBAL WARMING THEORY.

There are just as many or more scientists who believe the Global Warming Theory is based on faulty science. Global Warming Theory is promoted by the media, and should scare you less than the yearly flu pandemic, which is promoted by the media (this is more of a legitimate scary thing, then Global Warming Theory or being hit by a giant flying mass hurling through space at earth, is scarier).

This GLOBAL WARMING THEORY is probably a lot of B.S. (Media Sensationalism), because we do not have the necessary data to make this  an absolute conclusion (Fact), it is still just a THEORY.  

The only things along these lines which is most likely valid or fact are 1) Our Population is out growing our environment... There are too many people on earth and with the projected population growth of humanity, we will out grow our limited environment (earth space); and most likely die off as a result.  2) We do need to be more responsible custodians of the earth, by not polluting or minimizing the pollution to the earth...for the good of our children and children's children.

Well, the media is putting out a ton a false information designed to scare the ill informed. It is up to you to make an informed decision. If you do your own research you will find that it is all a bunch a garbage. The earth naturally warms and cools.

Why don't you go ask some hunters about the funny behavior of the animals? Why don't you go tell some people in Greenland who've lost their homes because now half of Greenland melts in the summer as opposed to the 1/4 from just two decades ago, see if you don't get slapped into reality.
