  1. yes. unless you want 13year olds popping out babies.

  2. Absolutely not!

I agree with Jazzy. Birth control shouldn't even be around. If you want to have s*x then expect to have a baby.

Also, why is this in Homeschooling?

  3. Yes.  Anyone who might have s*x should have free access to birth control.  I believe it should be condoms and not the pill.

  4. Yes, absofrickinloutley!!!

I think the mothers who get upset over this, are absurd really.

I mean comon?? would they RATHER have ANOTHER child to raise?? A 6th grader cannot be a GOOD mother.. that is ridiculous.

I am all for the birth control being offered in Middle school, nothing wrong with it.

We don't need anymore welfare mothers.

  5. Well it depends on first the neighborhood. Many inner-city children are having s*x younger and younger, not to say that children who live in suburbs don't either, but given the fact that teens who attend inner city schools are more likely to become teen parent then yes it should be distributed with discretion.

Before the school system implemented that [birth control], they should have notified the parents, held assemblies, safe s*x or abstinence classes,  and then let the parents decide with a take home permission slip of sorts.

Expressing their acceptance or refusal to have this administered to the students. I mean, they send home slips for your child to take pain killers.

Why couldn't they have done the same here?

  6. no i actually think that there shouldnt be any birth control. if your going to have s*x, then you should be ready to live with the consequences

  7. Yes they should! One it aids in severe period pain and if there family is against contraception, what is better a baby at a young age or prevention.

I do see it could be problem yet there are bigger issues at stake here.

  8. NO! They shouldn't even dream of needing it.

  9. no. in middle school you are not mature enough or educated enough to know if you want to have s*x.

  10. i want free birth control

and yes because nothing will stop teen from having s*x so might as well protect them.

  11. Sort of.  I think middle schoolers should be given access, but only after their parent has been contacted. Kids having s*x that early are usually abused.  There was a little 10 year old girl in my apartment complex who took it upon herself to wear a spandex dress that was basically a couple of band-aids and 5" heels to cross the parking lot and then cross back. Obviously seeking male attention. She looked like a prostitute, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was being molested.

So.  I think it's more important for the school counselor to be told by their teacher of any behavior which could signify early s*x or molestation.  You'd be surprised how many 10 and 11-year old girls get pregnant in 5th and 6th grade.

  12. no i dont think they should.  im 14 and i want to have s*x and get birht controll but i dont because kids shouldn't b e doing that.  you can get cancer from it and is anything free?

  13. Actually some schools have on-site clinics offering birth control

  14. Middle schoolers??? Ummm, no...

  15. They Already do. Planned Parenthood is a place that Teens can go to seek medical help. Or get info...  They provide them with condoms and stuff ... and Ladies can get  Pills or the shot for birth control. And its confidential so they cant  let your parents know.  Check it out .

  16. Yes I do, they should all have access to the most effective form of birth control- its called ABSTINENCE, or in some circles it is called MORALS, and it is strengthened by THE PRESENCE OF MOM OR DAD IN THE KID'S DAILY LIFE.

  17. No way!!! I mean these kids should barely be laening about sexual stuff. Giving then free access to birth control is like encouraging them directly to go do it. I am so against that!

  18. I think that middle schoolers should be educated about s*x and abstinence so they can make their own decisions regarding whether or not to engage in sexual activity. Many middle schoolers are having s*x and they have no clue what the consequences are. If they do choose to have s*x I think they should have access to birth control and condoms to avoid teen pregnancies and the spread of STDs. I know that is a problem with certain religions and that's why I believe parents should have conversations with their children no matter how embarrassing it is to them or the kids.

  19. yeah when pigs fly  no they cant have them

  20. I'm assuming middle schoolers are the same age as older primary school and young high school kids: In which case, No.

With or without parental consent or knowledge, kids that age should never need birth control...what sort of parents think their kids could ever need birth control at that age - that's insane (unless of course there is something going on in that particular relationship that it suits the parent to know the kid won't get pregnant!)

Kids that age don't need birth control; they need people who care about them enough to tell them they should not be selling themselves short and should have heaps more self esteem and self respect than to go having s*x at that age.

I don't believe that, as a society, you can have a zero tolerance policy towards child abuse and child exploitation on one hand and be handing out birth control to kids on the other. It's a contradictory message to be sending out.

EDIT: Not so sure 12 year old boys having s*x with 12 yr old girls is direct sexual abuse as the boys are being manipulated, let down and failed just as much as the girls. And what about when the whole thing is initiated by the girl? However I do think there is a case for arguing that kids of either gender who have s*x are the victims of both parental neglect and a much wider adult/community neglect.

  21. Nope.  Kids that age should have all of that stuff cleared and explained to them by a parent and/or doctor.  They are not old or mature enough to be able to make their own decisions about s*x.

I know some of them still do...but usage of various forms of birth control (i.e., the pill) can be very harmful to a middle schooler, and they need to fully understand that things like condoms are not fool-proof.

Most of all, they need to understand that they are still children and have no business having s*x!  Sorry, but as the mother of a middle schooler, I've made darn sure my son understands that.

  22. No. we should be teaching children that they should not be having s*x at such a young age.

  23. they already do.  all they have to do is go ask their parents.

  24. Uh, no?

That's like telling them that it's okay to have s*x at that age.

If they want birth control like a condom, they should get their asses over to a Planned Parenthood facility or something.

The one by me gives out free boxes of condoms.

  25. Since you asked this in the homeschooling section, it is a private matter between parent and child.

The government needs to stay out of the parent child relationship.

    period.

  26. Absolutely not. I read that article about the school wanting to make it available because of an "outbreak" of middle school girls getting pregnant. Makes it sound like some disease running around. They want to make it available to girls as young as 11. Shouldn't that count as sexual abuse regardless of how old the boy is??????

  27. No. But they SHOULD have an in-depth and graphic s*x-ed course, including pictures of STD victims at advanced stages of the diseases.

They should be thoroughly instructed on ALL aspects of s*x, pregnancy & birth, STD's, Birth control, and everything ELSE that goes with it.

An hour each day for all of 7th grade should be the standard.

  28. No

  29. How absurd would it be for a private school to be asking if they should give out condoms and birth control without parental consent? It would be economic suicide to do so. The parents would be outraged and pull their kids! Further, they would be right in doing so and likely would even win a lawsuit if it happened especially if the condoms failed or the birth control caused complications. So why should public schools be any different?
