when the wealthy and mulit-national corporations have all the wealth and power. we have the lowest voter turn out of any country. is it because we have lost faith in the ability of our government to help us with our problems of 20% of our children living in poverty, school deteriorating, college students coming out of school thousands in debt and working class people who cannot find affordable housing? pharmacuetical and insurance companies donate millions to the polictions in special interests and we pay the highest price for presciption drugs. and no health care program. is it up to the government help or are we on our own to solve these issue. should we be on our own? does voting help? have Americans given up and say as long as i can keep going to the malls i don't care. i don't believe Americans are as stupid as the politicans think.

  1. No.

  2. Giving up? Why?

College students end up with thousands in debt - but won't think twice about buying a new car or iPhone.

20% in poverty? They still have better lives than the average European.

You're watching to much "Daily Show".

  3. The Human Right To Peace, The Right Of Humanity to own the planet and conserve planetary natural resources as right in The Constituition of each nation might help with Resource Wars at least.

  4. Well, more than what?

Generally, no, I don't think most people are "giving up".  As far as absolute numbers go, though, probably.

  5. No. I think more and more people don't understand the process. To begin with, corporations don't pay taxes. They incur a tax expense which is passed on to the consumers in the price of goods and services. Wealthy people create jobs for the less wealthy by investing their money into enterprises which employ people. Since one of the chief purposes of our Constitution is to foster the growth of commerce, that doesn't seem to be a bad idea to me. Since less than one in five adults has ever read the Constitution, less than half can even name their local Member of Congress, less than half of eligible voters are even registered to vote  and the majority of native-born Americans couldn't pass the test for citizenship given to resident aliens wishing to become U.S. citizens I'd say the politicians have it exactly right when they think the people are stupid.

The stupidity is made manifest by people who believe they can purchase a home whose market price is more than five times their annual income.  It shines for all to see in the mistaken notion that the President is some sort of Federal Wizard King who is personally responsible for every failing in peoples' lives. And it can't be missed when the only body part which survives some natural disaster or other calamity is the finger of blame.

  6. Well, like PT Barnum said no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the customer.  Same goes for politicians.  They depend on people that believe government is the solution to all our problems.  I believe like Reagan said "government is the problem".

As for voting, this election cycle right now we still have a choice of three of the phoniest politiicans I can recall.  Hillary the phoney co-president, McCain the phoney conservative, and Obama the phoney uniter.
