  1. depends what you are moving away from and what you are moving to

  2. lol not if you dont know the language...

  3. Im going to move to mexico and live on my retirement there.

I will get four time the value for my money

  4. i live in south korea right now. i think you should make sure you know then language well and look up general information.

  5. Depending on what country, what job and opportunity. Please give more info.

  6. no one knows where the path not taken would have ended up.  Make your decision & make the best of it!

  7. depends on wat the move is for

  8. Depends on your age.  If you are young you can relocate and probably get a job.  Some first world (European) countries have better infrastructure, health care, vacation time off (four weeks paid vacation) than the US.  However, if you are nearing retirement, they may force retirement before you are ready to retire.   Since the world is getting smaller it is wise to live in another country and learn a different language when you are young, this will improve you options where you can work and live.   The world is a wonderful place, broaden your horizons and do a little research.

  9. Far off fields always look greener.

  10. Rarely.  It is much more difficult than people think.  I used to live in Spain and I saw a lot of misery amongst the older people who had sold up and moved there.  They couldn't afford to move back and when the man died, the women were left on their own without their old support networks around them.

Often people also don't realise how home sickness can be so debilitating.  It is an awful feeling and can lead to serious mental disorders in some cases!

Most people who move abroad, make their decisions on the flimsiest of reasoning...and it is mostly a mistake that they never like to admit to having made.

  11. What is wise and what is not...we never know. It's all in the experience and you will be your only judge. Different people, different perception, different views. But only you know what you want out of every decision or path you wish to take. Life is full of surprises but that will only unravel if you're willing to take the risks. The risks of being unorthodox and facing whatever possible consequences you may face. Game or not? Your call ;)

  12. ...no idea...pray for this...id it is HIS will to move, you'll move...if it isn't you will not  move.

  13. Having never done it, my guess is that its not.

    As others have said, it depends what you want to change from your life now, but I think;

Most other countries do not have a decent health service and you would have to pay for medical insurance.

Most places pay lower wages than the UK.

    Do you speak other languages?

If you were thinking of thowing yourself into another culture, learning the language and befriending the locals then maybe, but otherwise the chances are you will fall into the same routine there as you have here, whatever that is.

Depending on your situation here in the UK, I would either:-

Work abroad and come home every couple of weeks or every weekend. For example, Norway or Sweden pay much higher wages than here, or

Try and improve your life here, be it moving to a better area, getting a better job, moving nearer the Country if you have kids.

The grass always seems greener on the other side, but it rarely is.

  14. No one knows.  You can only hedge your bets .  Our future is for the most part fate anyway.(Are you rich?  money helps )    ...good luck if you go.
