  1. if the grass is dry it takes longer for the grass too grow..bi weekly is good and use a high setting..mowing ever week is like here in fl its rainy season.

  2. Generally you mow your grass when it gets high enough that mowing it will give it a more manicured look.  So, if your grass grows fast enough that you need to mow it twice a week, then, go for it.  But, most grass doesn't need to be mowed but once a week.  Commercial lawn people usually make their contracts to state that they will mow once a week during the summer and as needed during the winter.

Concerning your question regarding cutting your grass on the higher setting, if you cut your grass too low then it can get disease in it, so, cutting it on the higher setting is the desirable cut.

  3. It's better to cut the grass bi weekley in the summer as it stays greener for longer periods in hot weather, also use the high setting on your mower

  4. I personally think excessive grass cutting is a waste of gasoline as well as cutting back on the ability of the grass to convert carbon dioxide to oxygen.  Not a very "green" way of doing things.

  5. I always mow my lawn when I think it needs it. If it's dry weather then I usually hold off until the forecast says rain is coming then I get cracking. Also I never mow the lawn on the first cut, I always use the middle cut, so if the weather is warm for a few days it's more protective and doesn't go so brown.

  6. Well if they cut every two weeks then the guys only have half the work to do and they can't have them doing nothing half the time!

We are continuing to cut all our grass as frequently as we can manage, from greens through to rough, but we're only cutting the greens short because we can throw on water quite easily. Cutting the longer stuff frequently is better than letting it get away too much, even though it seems like you're cutting nothing a lot of the time. A more frequent cut also helps you to spot any unexpected problems more quickly, like a disease or bug infestation

  7. it just looks dead for a few days, it always grows back. its not dead forever.

  8. They are probably not cutting the grass very low so the grass is pretty safe.  We mow our grass every week too, but the setting on the lawn mower is at the high point.  It just wacks off the top of the grass and makes it appear even and manucured.  There is no danger of the grass burning.

  9. I don't think it would, because cutting the grass while it's wet always lasts longer, and as for bi- weekly, i think that only depends on the kind of grass and how fast it grows. To me, It's like shaving, it's very uncomfortable and not helpful to shave dry.

  10. they cut the grass every week so they make more money most people who dont have a lawn company do there grass cut it every 2 weeks

  11. Mowing more often is generally better for the grass, since you are cutting off a smaller percentage of the grass blades.  So, there is less shock to the plants.

Sometimes the commercial companies cut the grass too short, as grass should be cut pretty long in hot weather.  I suspect they cut weekly simply because that's what most people hire them to do.

  12. Companies are only interested in lifting money.  I mow my own lawn nearly every day but only take a small fraction of the top of it.  If I am cutting anyone Else's lawn I refuse to cut it short if they don't like it don't employ me.  In the really hot weather it is more important to keep watering the lawn not employing someone to cut.
