For “Ma”

To One Who Mothers All

by Elaine Polin

I met a friend who lives far away

Perhaps she lives where night is day

Far, but close in Virtual Land

Of Questioners she’s in the band

I met her on the Web.

The web is tangled, strong and true

Woven with words by me and you

And by her! She has found that poetry

Unites the hearts of you and me

I am grateful to the Web.

This web devours not its writers

They work together, they are fighters

They speak of love, of hope and peace

Of future plans, their souls release

I meet real people on the Web.

  1. I know Ma will love this. And Yes, We are all real people on the Web.

  2. This virtual web is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. The trust we show (actual photo avatars unlike mine), never fails to made me smile and encourage me to realize that I am communicating with real people, not just random typists on the web. I love you all, and yes, I do believe that "Ma" will consider this a real poem. Rock on, Elaine.

  3. Yes - Ma will consider it a poem.  She may not think it's a good poem.  But it IS a poem.  I can't say that agree with the point you make about the people you meet on the web.  There are weasels and thieves out there just like in real life.

  4. Yes, she should, because it is well done. I think you are eager to dig into deep subjects and express your true feelings about them while preserving poetry standard. Good luck !

  13. This web is tangled, yes indeed,

But it gives something that we need,

A place to read the things we crave,

A place to later rant and rave.

Those whom we meet become our friends,

And not just to some selfish ends.

We fall in love with each small hair,

That is because we really care.

And MA will love your pretty rhyme,

You do it well all of the time.

I wish you a morning filled with happiness and love, and send you a basket full of love to help start you off.

    an option among poets here,
