Do you think my brother should be able to return to school?

He came to this school in 5th grade. He got 2 referrals. In 6th grade, he got one. In 7th 1, this year, his 8th grade year, he's gotten 2. The rules state that after you receive 5 referrals, it results in expulsion. He should've been kicked out after his first one in 8th grade, but they decided to let him stay. He got another one, and that was last Friday. That one was number 6. They took a week to make the decision, and they let him stay. He's coming back to school on Tuesday.

Do you think he should be allowed to stay? Especially since he was supposed to be expelled in September. This is the second time they let him stay when he was supposed to go.

What do you think?

Thanks ;]

  1. If they make a rule like that and then do not follow through over and over they are saying that it is okay to break the rules. Damaging a teacher's car is horrible and they do not seem to be dealing with him well. After all of these years they still have not been able to find a way to deal with him and help him get past the ADHD. Your parents should be taking more action to make sure that he gets the help he needs. Unfortunately the school may not even be allowed to follow through with their own rules. When learning problems are a part of the problem there are laws that prevent schools from taking more action. Your parents need to be handling this and not depending on the schools to.

  2. 5 referrals in what amount of time?  I think that is pretty strict, espacially for middle school and especially for a kid with impulse control problems (ADHD).  I think they were correct in letting him stay.

  3. It all depends on why he is getting those referrals.  And what they are for.  Does your brother have ADD or some sort of learning disability?

If he is just being an little ***, then yes he needs to go, but if there is a serious learning problem, then no.

  4. I think you should look at putting him in a special school a school that is able to help and is aware of children that need extra care and who are abusive. They have specilist that can help with this type of thing and manage his ADHD.

  5. dude y do u want ur brother not in school hes ur brother how can u turn on hinm like that ur so crewl : (

  6. He needs to be in a special school. Obviously he can't control himself. He could hurt another student, a teacher or himself. Talk to the principal about a special placement.

  7. They are teaching your brother that it is okay to break the rules because there will be no consequences for his actions.  That doesn't sound like a very good school to me, and in the long run your brother will suffer for it.

  8. i think your brothers an idiot and your parents are doing a horrible job raising him. Damaging a teachers car, come on man, they should put his asss in juvy and then see how tough he really is.

  9. 1. They can make him leave school, but they must provide him with an education. This could mean placement in another kind of school or home teaching. They cannot just cut him loose.

    2. If he was receiving Special Ed services and has a diagnosis the rules are even stricter. Find an advocacy organization for kids with disabilities for help.

  10. What are these referrals for?   Where I live referrals don't get rolled over from one year to the next school year.    After so many detentions for minor offenses, a student can get suspended.   After a few suspensions then there could be an expulsion but that would have to be a kid with pretty serious behavioral issues (likely juvenile delinquent too).

Do you know for sure if these referrals carry over from one school year to the next and what were the offenses?
