Question:

Do you think my cat has asthma?

My cat has been wheezing and breathing strangely over the past few weeks and acting lethargic. She's been to the vet several times but they didn't see anything wrong with her. They gave her some medicine for depression but that doesn't seem to have helped much with her breathing. She is 5 3/4 years old and otherwise in a good health. These symptoms appeared only a few weeks ago.

Does anyone know what might be wrong with her?...experts only -sources would be a plus.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Get a second opinion.  There is a reason for those symptoms, whether there is a growth in her throat, or she is allergic.  She should also get the x-ray to check for heart worms.  The heart worms actually cause pulmonary problems, not heart problems, and are on the rise in cats.  Reputable vets have pamphlets on heart worms in cats.

  2. Sounds like allergies to me.  It might be weather related since it just started.

  3. No but your cat may have an allergy, illness, or is not getting enough water or cool places to be.

It may just be how she breathes.

I am sorry but watch her carefully and try another vet.

    All I can say .

  4. MY CAT MAXX HAD SOME WHEEZING. I COULD HEAR IT CLEARLY WHEN I PUT HIM ON HIS  SIDE.

DID HE VET CHECK HIS TEETH ???. HE HAD A ABSESS ON HIS TOOTH AND AN INFECTION WAS SET UP IN HIS LUNGS.

    IT IS A POSSIBILITY.
