I'm supposed to be flying out of Jacksonville, Florida on Friday morning. I'm going to Arizona and my layover is in Atlanta. We are supposedly having clear weather here on Friday (even though there could be flooding) but from what I see on the news and read, Georgia is suppose to have bed weather Friday. So... do you think I'll get stuck in Atlanta? I mean it might just be some mild storms and tornadoes.... would that effect a lot of flights?

Just curious... I don't fly much and I didn't know how bad the weather has to get before they cancel flights. I've checked into switching flights but the airline I'm using goes thru Atlanta for all its flights to Arizona...ughhh

  1. Yes, it is quite possible you will see some form of a delay. Think about it... for an aircraft to arrive at the airport you're flying out of, it has to come from another airport. And the possibilities of THAT airport being one near or around the turbulent weather is quite possible, that's how delays are caused all around the country from bad weather in a corner of it.

My advice is to call the airline and check.

  2. depends on how many of Thursday's flights are canceled and

have to be 'caught up' on Friday

just a regional airport, so the choices may be limited

    all the best

  3. I would bet it will be delayed. Planes will not fly in possible tornado weather, or in severe or bad storms.

  4. It's just too early to say one way or another.  Whether or not your flight on Friday will go will depend on factors yet unknown.

I worked for the industry in the past and, usually, the decision was not made until the day the flight was scheduled to go.
