  1. well i recommend you that if she is a female get her another female cause males may fihgt, but if you play with them all the time you can then just leave her some toys and play with her all the time you can they really like to be petted mine like to be brushed and he even makes the sound they make when they are happy he used to run  away from me but know he is really happy, wish you luck

  2. yea she should be fine, but if you get another girl and put her in there, they may fight.I would just stick to having one, but you could get toys for your guinea pig to play with.Unless you want a boy guinea pig, and  have to get another cage (and possibly have babys if you put them together)  i would stick to one , unless you want another one, but that would make more responsibility and more expensive. If you are busy, just try sticking with 1.  :)     ~natalie

  3. if she gonna be alone most of the day while ur at school i do suggest getting another  guinea pig

  4. my guinea pig when i got her in october 2007 she was  of lonely when i would leave for a school... until we got another guuinea pig in may 2008 since then shes been perky and happy

  5. Would you like to spend your life alone in a cage?

  6. please buy her a playmate she needs it  just make sure that the new one has the same age...GOOD LUCK...

  7. It would really be best if you got another guinea pig to keep her company.

You are right - piggies are a social species and need the company of their own kind.

Lots of attention from you is great! But you are not a guinea pig. Sadly you can not really communicate or interact with her in a natural, meaningful way. She needs another piggie to play with, sleep with etc.

And of course, since you spend most of your day eihter at school or asleep in bed, your piggie is actually compltely alone for most of the day.

I would suggest adopting a female piggie to be her companion - but make sure your cage is big enough for 2!

You should introduce them on neutral territory.

If you are going to use the same cage you have now, you will need to clean it thoroughly. Wash everything - the floor, bars, toys etc. to remove all smells. This way Meimei won't feel like she has to defend her territory.

When you introduce new piggies they will squabble at first will they establish dominance. This is normal. They might chase eachother, squeek, nosebutt, mount and rumblestrutt (they walk funny and make a purring noise).

Just leave them to get one with it, it shouldn't last more than a week or so.

You only need to separate them if they draw blood.

Usually females are really tolerant and easy to introduce so you shouldn't have any problems.

    Good luck!

  8. It's better to get her a friend though (another female guinea pig). Guinea pig's doing well in pair. I know you still play and be with her but she would still feel lonely because she's all alone in the cage most of the time. If you are getting her a friend, make sure you introduce them in the neutral space ( try the kitchen or a small room)---to prevent teritorial domination fighting.

    Take care!  :)
