  1. No, the teen parents should find their own babysitters....it's what adult parents do when they have a function they want to attend.

  2. yes, i think it would be a good idea.

it would provide some support for teen parents,

and let them know that their school has a positive environment and that they have open doors.

"NO, NO, AND AGAIN NO. I PAY TAXES TO EDUCATE CHILDREN NOT TO BABY SIT THEIR ILLEGITIMATE CHILDREN. LET THE PARENTS WHO FAILED TO RAISE THEIR CHILDREN RIGHT SIT WITH THEM."

if the school has a parenting class, they could run it and have it be a project

    - babysitters

    - make games

    - make the classroom "kid proof"

    - etc

or volunteers in general who need community hours.

if there is a cooking class or food and nutrition class,

they could make snacks and such.

so it would still be educating,

PLUS it would be providing support.

    :)

  3. No. Here is the logic behind my answer, I'm not just judging the situation.

If the school is a public school, it is funded by state and federal money. The purpose of these funds in the case of a high school is to a) educate all students in the school district that are of age, b) provide upkeep for the building, c) pay the teachers and staff. The purpose of the federal dollars is not to provide babysitting for individuals who choose to forfeit their status as people who have no dependents, such as a child, while still in school. Overall, it is not a school's place to babysit, simply to educate the high schoolers.

If your son's school is private, they can do whatever they want to put it in simple terms. If it is a private school for teenage parents, the situation might be slightly different, but still it is up to the school to decide how they use their funds since they are not given by the government and are instead raised by tuition in the private sector.

One could argue that it is the school's place to teach students not to become teenage parents. However, hopefully almost all people in high school realize that sexual intercourse can lead to a child. Since it is common knowledge that a woman can get pregnant after s*x, your son and his partner went beyond better judgement fully realizing such a union could result in an unwanted child. It was him/his lover's choice to do the deed, and now they must deal with the seed. Childcare on prom night is not the school's responsibility or domain.

  4. Not a school's job to provide childcare, that would be your son's responsibility.

  5. It strikes me as ludicrous, a person being a teenage parent, and going to a Senior Prom.

It is like having your cake and eating it too.

Young people need to realize what the consequences are if you have s*x when you are in high school.

Every middle school should offer "Baby Think It Over", a mechanical doll that cries for feeding, diaper changes, colic, just for the heck of it, at all hours of the day.  Students take this "child" for one week.

One week is all it takes to make abstinence, or at the very least responsible birth control ,look damned good!

No kid should be rewarded for irresponsible actions, with going to the Prom.

  6. 100% Not.

  7. If high school students choose to have babies, they should have the reponsibilty like everyone else to be sure their children are properly cared for. It is not a school's responsiblitly nor a tax payers) to provide the service. You also have to think of the liability this would place on a school to provide this. School districts certainly can't afford to take that on either. I absolutely do not think it should be provided.

  8. I guess if people  can't  take  care of his  kids  let  somebody else do it. The person made his bed now he needs to lie in it.

  9. NOPE

  10. Since a lot of kids think that prom is for s*x, that's a good way to end up with another illegitmate kid. It's not the school's responsibility.

  11. NO, NO, AND AGAIN NO. I PAY TAXES TO EDUCATE CHILDREN NOT TO BABY SIT THEIR ILLEGITIMATE CHILDREN. LET THE PARENTS WHO FAILED TO RAISE THEIR CHILDREN RIGHT SIT WITH THEM.

  12. why would a high school need to provide day care?
