A month ago my brother laid down on me while I was sitting on the couch. My right hand was over him and my left hand was under him. My brother is a big guy, he is almost 200 pounds. When I managed to roll him off me without him snapping my knees in half my left wrist started killing me. its been hurting a long time, but i also don't want to get x-rays because i have had many many x-rays in my life time, i think like almost 20 counting dental x rays. I am also a slow healer so i don't know if this is like a sprain or a break. I can move my hand in a circle but it hurts on the right side of my left wrist. Please help me

  1. go to the doctor and find out cuz im not a doctor and i cant help you and nither can any one but a doctor????!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?...

  2. I don't think your wrist is broken if you could move it in a circle it isn't broken, and it's probably not even sprained if you could move it in a circle also. The best thing to do is keep it iced so the swelling can go down :-D

  3. If you want to know definitively if it was broken, you will need an x-ray. Dental x-rays and x-rays of extremities expose you to a relatively small amount of radiation. For a wrist x-ray this might be worth the amount of radiation that you get from the environment by living on the Earth for one month. Basically, I would not avoid the x-ray due to concerns about radiation exposure; you probably get more from a plane flight just by being closer to the Sun.

Further, if the x-ray is positive you can use this information as leverage against your brother, and hopefully he will no longer use you for a chaise lounge.

The source describes environmental radiation relative to x-rays, but does not specifically mention amount involved for a wrist x-ray.

  4. Chances are that you just sprained it : Put some ice on it, take somaspirinin, and give it some more time. If the pain still occurs then see the doc.  good luck and good healing.
