  1. yes

  2. Take his place how?  If you mean overtake him as the #1 ranked player, then yes I do.  If Nadal wins Wimbledon, and Federer loses in the 4th round or earlier, then Nadal WILL take Federer's place at #1.  And if that doesn't happen at Wimbledon, then Nadal will have more chances later this year, because he doesn't have nearly as many points to defend as Federer in the second half of the season.

  3. If  (and that's a big IF that remains to be proven) Federer is on his way out and  in a decline,Nadal is a worthy recipient of the crown.

However,I think that Federer is at the top. It's just that "the top" has widened out a bit and there's a little more room there for others, notably Nadal and Djokovic who have been doing some impressive mountain climbing this year while Federer rested up there on his laurels. It's now looking more and more like a tiny plateau with room for three rather than a mountain peak with room for one.

Possibly, what we will be looking at for the next months or even year is at these top three jostling each other around and doing a balancing act on that plateau until finally someone clearly shoves the other two off and proclaims himself "King of the Mountain". That hasn't happened yet at all.

  4. In the rankings, he definitely can replace him. But if your asking if he can fill in his shoes in terms of game, I don't think nadal can do that just yet. They have a different game style and he still has to improve other aspects of his game to make it as complete as fed's. But I think he can do it!

Since Nadal is on a roll these days I think he can overtake federer's ranking soon.

    Sorry... just my opinion!

  5. it's just a matter of time before rafa takes world #1 from the fed. the fed himself graciously acknowledged that.

it would be interesting to see nole and rafa fiercely battle that #1 ranking, once the fed relinquish his throne.

  6. yes he can. Nadal has left very little doubt about what he can do

  7. well, its possible. but for it to happen, nadal will have to improve his game on hard court. in terms of overall performance, federer is still the best in the world. but given that he's not been playing his best tennis and that humliating loss at the french open to nadal, i think nadal might stand a chance. we'll see at wimbledon...

but don't forget that nadal is still closer to the no.3 spot than no.1.

  8. N. O. theres app 2000 points seperating nadal and federer.. by the time nadal reaches within 200 points his knees would break from his running on hard courts. He simply wont because ever now and then people like tsonga will beat him down.

  9. Nadal can definitely take Federer's place as the #1 player in the world.  The rankings points say so.  But, hopefully Wimbledon will demonstrate that Federer is not ready to go down just yet.

If Federer does lose the number 1 spot in the near future (hopefully not), I do hope that it will go to Nadal.  He is a talented, hard-working and mentally tough player who is also a gracious and respectable person.  I think he will continue to represent the sport in an admirable way, just like Federer has been doing for the past few years!

  10. roger is too young and d**n too good to be replaced now.haha. rafa has a chance but he needs to polish his overall performance.

  11. Nadal has already taken Federer's place as the best in the game today. Although Federer is still ahead in the ranking (mainly because of his performances last year), Nadal is ahead in the race. I'm willing to bet a lot of money that Nadal is going to win Wimbledon this year.
