  1. All non degradables are big problems until efficient cost effective ways of recycling are found .The sheer bulk of waste plastic is mind boggling.

  2. Yes because the ability to recycle is difficult. I understand that they can be used as an alternative fuel in co-generation plants but the volume and the transportation is difficult and can wipe out any energy derived from this process. The amount of oil used to manufacture these products is a lot on an annual basis. Perhaps they should be phased out where possible and a reasonable product that is biodegradable substituted instead.

    EDIT: Kelly I wasn't joking:

    {Unfortunately, recycling plastics has proven difficult. The biggest problem with plastic recycling is that it is difficult to automate the sorting of plastic waste, and so it is labor intensive. Typically, workers sort the plastic by looking at the resin identification code, though common containers like soda bottles can be sorted from memory.}

    Additionally there are so many types of plastic. While much can be reused that is different than recycle as asked.

  3. OK Kenny's answer was good, (except for the part about recycling being difficult, was he making a joke). Anyway, he left out that most plastic ends up in in our oceans and are causing all kinds of problems for the wildlife. The other is non-biodegradable plastic ends up being an excellent water catch and homes for mosquitoes.

  4. Yes, A non-degradeable objects are a big problem because-

    1- If you leave them on land, water, etc. they cause polution

  5. YES! they are pollutants. but if we know how to recycle them then maybe they can help us save planet earth too.
