  1. No.  The data shows he's flat wrong.

"Recent oppositely directed trends in solar

climate forcings and the global mean surface

air temperature", Lockwood and Frolich (2007), Proc. R. Soc. A

    doi:10.1098/rspa.2007.1880

He's an astrophysicist that knows little about climatology.   To him, the Sun is the most important thing, no matter what the data says.  He seems incapable of grasping the simple scientific fact that CO2 is both a cause and an effect.

Some people here make the same mistakes.

  2. I don't see how he can be taken seriously when he doesn't seem to be living in our solar system.  He blames global warming on the Sun, but doesn't address the fact that solar output has decreased over the past 30 years as global warming has accelerated rapidly.  Like all other deniers, he cannot answer the 10 million dollar question:

It would be nice if he were right, but he's ignoring the scientific data just like the rest of the deniers.

  3. No, but the publicity that he’s been receiving appears to be a calculated effort by the skeptics.

I think that Habibullo Abdussamatov’s name first surfaced in a National Geographic article that says, “'His views are completely at odds with the mainstream scientific opinion,' said Colin Wilson, a planetary physicist at England's Oxford University.”[1]

Just last year, this guy was blaming the sun for global warming on Mars. Now he is trying to convince us that solar irradiance is decreasing and that Earth will soon go into a "deep freeze". "Instead of professed global warming, the Earth will be facing a slow decrease in temperatures in 2012-2015. The gradually falling amounts of solar energy, expected to reach their bottom level by 2040, will inevitably lead to a deep freeze around 2055-2060."[2]

His proof of a looming "deep freeze" is the fact that the year 2007 was one of the warmest in recorded history. “Research data confirm that global temperatures in 2007 were practically similar to those in 2006.”[3]

I believe that all of this is simply a calculated effort by the skeptics so that when the polar ice melts and the sea levels drastically rise, they can say, “How could we have known that this would happen. Remember back in 2008? Even then, there were scientists that were predicting a global deep freeze.”

  4. Can you take anyone seriously, who does not agree with you on this subject?

  5. Of course not.  The Russians want Siberia to be the next Miami.
