I know that young offenders do wear these in Holland; it is a shameful experience for them,

  1. Yes, of course...they should be humiliated, it might make them think twice about offending the next time. Doing some work in your spare time, anonymously, is not much of a punishment.

Graham H....your way of thinking is why we have so many repeat offenders in this country, I suppose you'd throw in a free champagne dinner for them too, when they've finished.

  2. yep with  A Hole printed on :)

  3. I think they should be made to do it naked, total humiliation!!

  4. That wouldn't be a bad idea.  It would make people aware of who they are.  But if that were to happen, it should also be law that you are not to harrass them in any way.  But them wearing something to identify them would be a good way for us to know who have been convicted.

  5. No.  If they have been given community service they have committed crimes which are not very serious.

I compare putting them on show and publicly humiliating them to the stocks of the middle ages.  We are supposed to be more civilised and humane these days.

They are being punished anyway, losing their free time and doing some good for the community.  That should be enough.

(Unless it was my property they nicked and then hanging would be too good for them).

  6. Yes I do!

I also think that all non dangerous criminals should be punished not in prison but by having to continue working, be on electronic bracelets, and by doing many many hours of community service, to include talking to disadvantaged and troubled young people about what they did, and the consequences of their actions.

  7. Excellent idea but one one step at a time in the right order- let's deal with the playstation frenzy in the holiday camps first. Did I say holiday camps? - I meant prisons.

  8. YES,   If it makes them look shameful all the better, because most of them treat it as a joke.

  9. In Tennessee, DUI offenders pick up trash as part of their sentence.  They must wear bright orange vests that read " I am a drunk driver".  We have a local judge who made shoplifters sit outside the business they victimized with a sign around their neck that read "I am a thief".

  10. they couldn't give a s*i$ here , extermination , blue eyes only for starters , live .

  11. Do you think keeping the streets clean should be a punishment or a civic duty and high on the budget committee agenda of our local authorities that like to tax us so much?
