And still make it to the national championship

Look at the last two years I mean troy smith is a joke.

and what happened last year. Look I'm not a WVU fan at all but they and about three others deserved a shot at the championship game far more than ohio state AKA....MAC champs

  1. Hate all you want, but the joke here is you. The second you said Troy Smith is a joke, I lost all respect for you completely. If you think the best QB the Big Ten has ever seen is a joke, then youre an absolute moron. You should never talk about football again, and Im completely serious. In fact, never talk about sports in general again.

And last year was supposed to be our rebuilding year, we were coming off that 06 loss, and we were supposed to be preparing all our underclassmen for this season. Its not our fault your team and everybody else in college football couldnt beat teams like Pitt, Stanford, App St, and whoever else got upset. Say what you want about our preseason schedule, but until I see any other top 5 team with the stones to schedule USC and Texas, then forget about it. The toughest non conference teams LSU has played in the past 8 years are Virginia Tech and Arizona. Ill give Florida that they at least schedule Florida State and sometimes Miami, but theyve come a long way since their heydays. The name Florida State doesnt carry as much prestige as it used to, and the same with Miami.

Make fun of our schedule, which includes a trip to USC, a game vs. Wisconsin in Madison at night, a trip to Illinois, and against Michigan, plus Penn State at home, but never try to say Troy Smith is a joke.

And if going 25-3 as a starter, going 3-0 against Michigan, throwing a school record 30 TDs in a season while only throwing 6 picks, hes the most efficient passer in Ohio State history, and he did all this in an Ohio State offense that threw the ball only 41% of the time.

Troy Smith isnt the joke, its clearly you.

  2. Ohio State plays in the "Big" 10, so they will always have one of the weakest schedules in the country.

It's not really their fault, they do make an effort to schedule some strong out of conference competition, at least they're strong when they schedule them.

Just another reason why we need a playoff system.  There is absolutely no way anyone can say with certainty that either of the two best teams in the country played in the NC game last year.

  3. Why not?  Nebraska made it to the game which decided the national championship in 1993 with the weakest schedule.

Until they implement a playoff system, which may never happen, you'll continue to have debates over who should be there.

  4. The weakness of schedule is the best indicator of the chances of a team getting into the championship game.  The choice of WVU in your illustration is baffling.  They are in the Big East conference.   The so many rest games within the conference and still add weak non-conference opponents to a weak schedule.   The NCAA now has a 12 game $hedule.  It is in their best interest to encourage weakness of schedule.   The sad reality is that most fans do not appreciate what an advantage a weak schedule gives to those teams, like OSU and WVU, which is fewer season altering injuries.  You can rest a key player when you have Villanova,  Connecticut, and Marshall on your schedule.  Plus your starters only play 3 quarters in those type matchups.  A win with limited effort.  What a sport the NCAA has created.   But, fans, enjoy your team as they win, win, win!

  5. They dont have the weakest schedule in the top 20. And as an Ohio State I wouldnt have put them in the national championship last year which was suppose to be a rebuilding season for OSU. In 2006, even though we got worked in the national championship, we still played 1v2 twice in OSU vs Michigan and OSU vs Texas.

Why did we schedule Youngstown State first? Well that is where JT used to coach and he is helping his former school out and getting them money. Look at other schools, many are playing cupcakes early in the season. Akron blows, Ill give you that. USC is top 3 and Troy is not that bad. Overall, we have scheduled 4-6 preseason top 25 teams, depending on what rankings you are looking at.

Just to show you how weak another powers OCC schedule is, look at LSU's:

Tulane, North Texas, Troy, and App State.

Now I know you want to say: Well the Big Ten sucks. Yes the Big Ten is down this year, only because OSU lost twice and Michigan is subpar. But OSU is not responsible for how the other teams in its conference performs. The SEC as stepped up as #1, but the Big 10 will recover. Actually besides a decline in Michigan and Minnesota, the Big 10 has gotten better- Indiana, Illinois, and even Northwestern have improved.

  6. Is there any tougher schedule this year than Georgia's? They have to play 3 SEC teams in the Top 10 and another 2 in the Top 25. Not to mention Arizona St.

USC is going to school Ohio St.

  7. I say let them play this year and if they lose again, then they don't get back in for at least 5 years...I hope if they do play this year it will be against another SEC team so we can whip their butts again...

    GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!

  8. They have USC to come by. Troy Smith is not a joke, have you seen Vince Young? You don't need great passing skills, you just have to be able to shrug off defenders while running. which is what Smith did. Ohio State was very deserving. WVU flopped and didn't deserve it. Enough said

  9. i think ohio state's schedule is tougher than byu-17, clemson-9, and illinois-19.  if they win at usc and go undefeated, they deserve the shot.  they have to play at wisconsin and at illinois.  and michigan is always a tough game regardless of  records.  i also believe their schedule is tougher than #4 oklahoma.
