Question:

Do you think on average, if people worked 10 hour days but only 4 days a week, we would save a lot of gas?

And if people stayed home on that one day of the week instead of driving to the malls or wherever, that would help to bring the cost of gas down?

  1. Here we go again, we should not bow to the oil rich countries anymore! We went to war over a tax on tea a few centuries ago and now we have to change our way of life again for OIL? We did what they told us to do.... conserve, recycle, safe the trees , buy American.....It didn't help. The root of all evil is the "Love of Money" and the rich just don't care about the planet anymore. Come on America...July 4th REMEMBER......

Don't buy any fuel the week of the 4th.

  2. No it wont cause most people will still go out on the extra day off.

And you cant change human behaviour easily

  3. Dmn Girl! you are thinking......  yep it would save. of course there would be those who wouldent save a dime because they will run no matter what. but a large majority it would..

good one!!!!! get this before congress eh?

  4. Not sure about savings for the commuters, but Palm Beach Community College (Florida) went on a 4-day week and the energy savings are remarkable. When I was a working nurse (I'm retired) the 3 day work week (12 hour shifts) was the best thing about the job!

  5. sure it would. anything that reduces the use of gas would help.

Just think of the impact it would have if everyone in the U.S. that lived within 5 miles of where they worked rode a bicycle to work.

  6. OH YEAH!! I think it would save on electricity gas the whole sha-bang. Schools, work so all do it.

  7. yes this would definetly bring the cost down if you work 40 hours in a shorter amount of days. and if on those days off you stayed home and did some yard work or watch a movie.

  8. I think the poeple that have to drive, or cummute to work, should try to share rides or carpool. I think this is just a political problem, I think pleasure useage, like nascar, or off road, water sports should pay a higher tax, for there fuel, but not the truck drivers, who deliver are goods,  theyshould pay less, so are foods and other goods will not go sky high. I don't really thank the four day week will help. Its the big oil companies who need to stop raping the hard working people trying to raise a family. or the people on a fixed income, trying to live, while the oil companies make billions from the middle class, and poor. And we are way behind in the super trains, like overseas, and mass trainsit.

  9. It might, but you know that people aren't going to stay home! With more days off, people will probably travel more!

  10. Probably not.....You still got airplanes, busses, trains.Truck drivers that have to deliver products.

I work 3 days a week. And gas is still high.

And plus, no one really cares if we use the Gas or not. I feel that if we stopped buying gas, it would actually go up.

  11. someone probably should do a cost analysis of that..

too bad we can't do something wild like "no travel for anyone by oil-based fuel systems on the 15th of any month except for police, health and safety personnel. period".
