no, I think it's one of the easiest thing to do when it comes to the process of communication. listening without any intent to answer means most of the times lack of carrying, ignorance, shallowness...

This is difficult for me during particular times. When I am with someone (say my best friend) and she is pouring her heart out to me, all of her hopes, wishes and say going through a difficult time I want to not so much give an answer, but talk with the intention of being sympathetic, empathetic and supportive to her. It would be difficult for me to sit there and see her pain without responding.

Having said that though, I think there is beauty and wisdom to be learned for an individual to listen to someone and just absorb what is being said without feeling the need to answer.

Not really.

There's been many times my responds had been squashed like a paper ball and thrown in the bin. That was when I realized she only needed to be listened to. I'm still there for her though....

yes, sometimes my mind just wants to dump out everything i hold inside and i have to stop to listen, then when i do listen, really listen, i also hear the answers i'm searching for from the confines of my own mind, as well as the other person's!  greater clarification!♥

Its underlying philosophy is the least taught in education and the s****t enrages. 'I don't know' is the hardest answer to give. How do you have intent to answer when your needs are long starving for sustenance. Then 'I don't know' ends the demand on your aching mind.

It has been my experience in life that, apparently, it is very easy to ask questions with no intention of paying attention to the answer.
