Do you think our health care system is efficient?

Meaning...

Are you satisfied with your doctor visits or do you feel something is lacking?

Do you go to get referred to just yet another doctor?

Do you pay for doctor visits merely to get a 5 dollar antibiotic? (That are overprescribed anyway)

Do you think insurance agencies have made the health care system inefficient meaning that they prefer to treat the symptom and not the cause?

By that I mean, should a doctor be more than just a symptom checker and evaluate your entire lifestyle and help you more in long term health?

  2. My doctor is GREAT!  Love him and am totally happy with him.

    I don't need referrals.

If I need an anti-biotic he will call in a script for me when I ask, unless he things the symptoms are something more serious.

YES! Ins companies treat symptoms only-- They would rather pay for someone having a heart attack than pay for someone to go to nutrition counseling, an exercise program and preventive medications.

I know this for a fact, because I used to work for a health insurance company processing claims, and my wife is a nurse.

The whole system is a big mess.  The insurance companies and doctors trying to cash in are the ones to blame.
