  1. Yes. The kids should have to pay the first time. The parents should have to pay the next time. The third time, criminal charges should be involved.

  2. I agree that the parents of a kid who vandalizes property should pay for the damage that their kid does 'cause in many respects they're the ones who are responsible for allowing it to happen in the first place.

  3. Yes. Sometimes the only way to knock some sense into a parents head is to hit them in the wallet. Maybe then they will keep a closer eye on what their children are doing.

  4. No, I think they should make the kids work to pay it off. (I'm assuming you mean teenagers.) They'll just keep getting in trouble if mommy and daddy pay off all of their debts and get them out of everything. Let them spend the night in juvie and then do some community service. I think that's more likely to get the point across. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to fine the parents as well but when I was a teen I wouldn't have cared less if my parents were fined. I snuck out at night, they had no clue I was gone because they were sleeping. I wasn't vandalizing anything but if I would have been thrown in juvie for breaking, say- a curfew law- you better believe that would have been the end of my sneaking out. Sometimes cops & jail are scarier than parents.

  5. Usually the parents are responsible for it and pay it.  Some parents don't care or don't keep track of their kids.  They could wander off without saying anything to their parents.

  6. Yes, I think so. I think it would force the parents to take a more active role in the kid's life, and keep better tabs on them, and make sure that they aren't with the "wrong crowd". Plus, alot of kids are much more afraid of their parents than the old slap on the wrist that the courts give to minors.

  7. Yes!! Parents are responsible for their kids actions.

  8. i think they are on the streets because the parents are either working late or asleep or just dont have any control over their kids because they are weak. my parents were very strict and im not like that at all. i'm really laid back, but i have a no tolerance policy in my house and that has been enforced since my babies were 9 months old.  but parents need to get that "NO TOLERANCE" policy attitude in their home..

  9. THE QUESTION HERE WOULD ONLY APPLY TO THOSE WHO ACTUALLY HAVE CHILDREN BECAUSE THERE IS A SAYING IN SPANISH THAT SAYS THAT WE LEARN TO BE BETTER TO OUR PARENTS ONCE WE HAVE OUR OWN KIDS. MEANING THAT ONCE WE HAVE OUR KIDS WE LEARN AND GO THROUGH WHAT OUR PARENTS ONCE WHEN THROUGH THEMSELVES. NOW I BELIEVE THAT YES WE MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS UNTIL CERTAIN AGE. BUT MEANWHILE WE HAVE TO LEARN TAKE FULL CONTROL OF OURKIDS IF WE DONT WANT THIS TYPE OF SITUATIONS TO ACCUR. AND IF YOU CANT CONTROL THEM TRY TO MAYBE PUT THEM IN BOOTCAMP SO WE CAN BETTER THEM AS INDIVIDUALS..

  10. Yes.

  11. if i had a kid who was out at night..he/she better be coming or going to the store for his/her mother/me or coming or going to a friends house...i think both parents and kids should pay and be charged  for the vandialism..if the police suddenly came to my house charging me for something my kid did on his night  out...well things would drastically change with his/her nights out...this youth offender court is c**p...if a kid is old enough to know the difference between right and wrong...he/she should be old enough to pay the conscequences for his/her own actions...3 yrs max in a youth offender court is a slap on the wrist....adult criminals use young kids for various crimes coz most kids will get away with the crimes they do..i witnessed that first hand afew times...young offenders act must be changed in my point of view...that max should be raised to at least 7-10yrs...with transfer to adult jail at 18yrs of age for violent and serious crimes .

  12. Yes. I firmly believe that a parent should know where their child is at all times and if they don't they should face the consequences. And, of course, they need to see that their kids are punished for it as well. Parents need to keep better control of their kids and teach them better manners and values. I live in a good neighborhood but i often hear very young teens screaming and being loud and boisterous outside at like 1am. It's just not acceptable!

  13. Vandalism is a crime.  They should be turned over to the police.
