Do you think people are smart enough to see double standards from both sides of an issue?

Or, is the plain fact that there are double standards evidence that people "can't see the forest for the trees" so to speak?

  1. I would like to believe that people can see the double standards, but most are unobservant and ignorant. I'm finding this out more and more when I talk politics with people. I'm not pretending to be an expert- there is a lot I have to learn, but well....people may be smart enough to see double standards but many chose not to.

  2. i really think that someone has to be intelligent and have a minimum amount of ego in order to look at both sides like that.

honestly someone who has less empathy than most would have the best chance of doing tht.

people always prefer one side because they somehow empathize with it.

  3. Yes, and...yes.

Sometimes we just have to pick what's right for us and fight for it until we get new information, or until we change our minds.  That's the best I can do.

If there weren't double standards, no one would have a job in marketing, and there would be no government :-)  It's a necessary evil I guess.

  4. i usually notice double standards everytime i speak and you must be pretty smart for noticing this and asking it as a question

but i ignore the double standards or hypocritical things i say because everybody else seems to and its too stressful tryna stay on the up n up

  5. The people who look at the total picture are able to see the double standards.  The problem comes when the "koolaid" drinkers on either side get involved.  They have blinders on and only see their point.

  6. I sure hope they can... but alas, most of the time people believe what they want to believe.
