Question:

Do you think people should adopt children instead of having their own?

There are so many little children with a hard past who have no parents. They need mothers and fathers.

There is also an extremely large population of humans on earth- well over six billion. The birth rate is faster than the death rate.

I’m not some huge environmentalist and I do not think the world is over-populated. In matter of fact, I'm sure the Earth has a huge capacity, well over the six billion. But the concern isn't on over-population, it's over how much people impact the environment. Adding more people to the equation only makes things worst.

To be honest, children aren’t my thing and I rather do without them. But if I do feel the need to have a child someday, I will be sure to adopt one in need.

I would like to know what other people think. Do you think it's ok to have children by birth or should people adopt? What are your reasons for believing this?

  1. I think it's great for people to adopt, and I would encourage it but some people don't want someone else's kid ya know? It's not really a should or shouldn't, it's a do if you want because it's a really good thing to do!

  2. I think it's a personal decision that people should make on their own.

The reasons you give are all good reasons to adopt. But there are also many strong reasons for choosing to have your own children. For many women the experience of carrying a child and, as painful as it is, giving birth is very important and a very fulfilling part of their lives (so I'm told). Many people will want to create, for lack of better words, a legacy for their genetic material, or they will feel more strongly bonded to a child of their own.

Another option, perhaps the most difficult, is fostering. This also has many social benefits but is a high risk/reward option for parents electing to foster. You might turn around a kids life for the better, or it might be too late and you suffer a lot of hardship seeing a child struggle.

It's up to each couple to weigh the various options, decide where their feelings, values and thoughts lie and the make the choice that is best for them and their family.

  3. It is human nature to breed. We have to breed to carry on our genes, to evolve, and for survival. We hook up sexually in order to breed. Men pick their woman based on who will birth the best child for them. There is no way to have humans stop breeding. I think adoption is a great idea. But a human's natural first instinct if to have your own, because that is what we have done since day one on earth. But most importantly like we stress spaying and neutering I think we need to use more protection/ birth control to stop the over populating of humans! :)

  4. Ideally no, people who decide to have kids should only do so if they plan to take full responsibility for them, but then life does not work that way. There are people who can't take care of their kids and there are people who can't have kids who are willing to look after them so i suppose it balances out.

In terms of environmental terms why should you give up the right to have your own child when some chav hommer wants to have 17 ? (was on tv a months or so back)

  5. I think it's okay to have children by birth or adopt.Or both- have a child by birth and an adopted child together. The most important thing to me is the child. I think people should take inconsideration if they can give the child/children a good home, stability and a  good provider. Most of all, lots of LOVE and CARE.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide in your future :)

  6. Adopting a child who needs it is a really great thing to do, but it's not the same as having your own child. When I'm older, I'd love to adopt because I think there are millions of kids out there with hard lives and it'd be so easy for me to give them a good life, you know? But I'd also love to have kids of my own. So I think both is the way to go.

And also, for women who are unable to give birth or who simply do not want to give birth, adoption is a really good thing to look into. You'd be helping a child in need, and that is something that never goes away.

  7. Sometimes I wish people had to adopt there are some people out there who really shouldn't be having children that are and some people who should have children that don't.

I think people should definitely have their own kids but you should really prepare yourself before taking that step. Too many couples enter into parenthood before they've really worked out the kinks in their own relationship - throwing a child into that can be problematic and detrimental to the child's well being. Children need to be raised in a loving environment whether through birth, adopted, or foster parents. As long as the Children grow up in a warm and loving environment that's what's most important.

That being said - the world is over populated and it's causing loads of problems, for the love of God people use condoms or birth control if you don't plan on having a kid.

  8. Both. My parents have both biological and adopted kids. It really just depends on the kind of person you are. I definitely want to experience have a child, but I WILL adopt a kid someday.

  9. i think that people should stop having babies giving them away and if u are teen that gave birth to a baby and then give it away because it will ruin ur life then why were u messing around with a guy if u didn't want to suffer the consequences well anyways imagine this ur a kid no parents and in a adoption home and ur not getting adopted and watching so many parents

walk past u and picking out other children because the other kids are faster stronger or even smarter i think adoption is the best idea a person could have but nobody will blame u for wanting ur own baby

  10. No I think it entirely up to the individual. Why shouldn't people have their own children if they choose and are able to do so?

They may not be the type of person able to love another's child as they could their own. It would not be fair on them or the child.

  11. that would deplete the gene pool.

  12. I would probably have 1 or 2 of my own! And i would adopt 1. I love Children and they are so adorable!
