Do you think people should be reported?

I have reported minors for asking and giving information that could cause them harm. However, I am finding there are a lot of adults who are trying to lure people in with thier inappropriate questions. There are chat rooms and sights that allow such content. It bothers me that so much goes on here. Do you think it is worth reporting? I usually do not mind what an adult does if it does not effect others...however, there are children on this site.

  1. I believe that someone does look at the reports and actually does something about it because many people on here whine and cry about being monitored too closely and say that people who report them are n***s. (Standard battle cry from someone who has no logical argument.)

Definitely report abuses - especially people who give out too much personal information or those posting adult content. This is an open forum where certain things are not appropriate to discuss.

I guarantee that 99% of the bellyaching about reporting is from people under 18 whose parents are not monitoring them closely enough. Once again, society has to be their parents and keep them away from danger.

  2. I report everything, I mean even the things that aren't offensive, just in case.  Stay on the ball.

  3. sure it sounds cool what your doing....just looking out for little guys

  4. YES, definetly. Many peple will not stop untill something bad happens. It is really bad that things like this go on, but you really have a good heart in asking and wanting to report people for this. Yes you should report them, absolutely. You should call the police and give them the exact website where this abuse is going on and should stop it, because this is very serious. Especially if minors are involved. If there were more people like you the world would be a nice, safe place. Keep up the good work!

  5. I think the disclaimer to this site asks that people be at least 13 years of age to participate.

That said, if you have younger kids - for example, a 12 year-old child posted a question regarding her parent's divorce - then if a user posts anything inappropriate, they should absolutely be reported.

That said, this 12 year-old kid got a lot of good feedback, and I did not note anything that was malicious in any way.

Usually, I will look at the user's questions and answers, that way you know instantly if they are a younger person, and then you post any answer with that clearly in mind.

As for the kids themselves, you're right to report them if they are in any way posting information that could potentially be harmful to themselves.  Better yet - reply to such questions and explain why it is so important to maintain online privacy.

We have police officers come to the school I teach at to talk with the grade seven and eight kids about online privacy and the unpleasant fact that not all folks on the internet are good people.

It's a learning process for the kids, and you are taking the right steps.

  6. Yes they should but the real question is?!...

    what hapens when they're reported....

  7. I used to just ignore it answering only questions with reasonable content that seemed to really want an answer. Now these "inappropriate" questions are the majority here and have really turned me off of YA. Seems this site is becoming a bit of a joke and like you said a chat room to see what responses the askers can get out of the rest of us. So, REPORT REPORT REPORT.

  8. I'm with you. This answer Yahoo! Answers was a noble idea, but some people are taking advantage of it to do bad things. I say that whoever reviews complaints and so on really weed out those sick predators and ban them.

Parents should also monitor their kids use of this site.  Safety starts at home.

  9. agree, but carefully worded questionsabout serious adult topics will exist.  Just the idiot sensationalism should be monitored.

Parents, unfortunately, need to monitor the websites their children visit.

  10. Yes, right now we have one who is using an alias, is at level one and has asked several sexually explicit questions and they are posted here on this category and yes I have reported abuse to everyone of them. I hope Yahoo will look at the use of the alias as a thing they are using to not get suspended for asking this kind of garbage. What is even worse is that most of the abuse occurs from the children that are on this site. I will be glad when school starts again, and maybe yahoo answers will be a place to relax and have fun as well as help people again!

  11. I agree with you, however, I think some parents need to be more responsible and track what their children are doing on the computer.  As for reporting people you find are inappropriate, then go ahead,  I think it is fair to do so.

  12. My personal opinion is....First think of this as an open world...the internet reaches far and wide...from country to country... yes, there are predators luring everywhere. Lots of sick people as well. Although reporting each and every person will never stop this. You may be helping but, I think you are just wasting your time. Nit picking....some may say...there are even little kids using fake birth dates and such to get into sites..how does this stop? You never know who you are talking to when there is no face to face conversations. Believe me.. if they are wrong doing they will eventually get caught sooner or later.

  13. Amen to that!!
