Question:

Do you think people that actually believe in Global Warming just want to feel like they're part of a club?

Don't you think that people who spread the Global Warming lie only believe in it because they want to feel like they're part of something? I mean, if you look at Global History, this warming/cooling trend isn't anything surprising. There is more evidence against Global Warming than there is toward it. It kind of seems to me that pro-Global Warming people just want attention and a reason to do something other than sit at home alone on a weekend.

  1. well maybe some do but u cant say all do thats stereotyping

  2. Better to be a member of that club, than the alterative which seems to be the delusional world of the denier with global conspiracies and "the lie of GW" when 99% of the worlds climate scientists think (based on scientific data gathered) that it is happening and we are the cause.

Deniers seem to have at least half a dozen different theories to explain, either that nothings is happening or that it's happening but (praise the lord) it not our fault, they pick on al gore and call those who think GW is happening, the followers of a religion, when it is the deniers who more closely act like a religion. ignoring straight forward evidence and sticking their heads in the sand.

Yes the climate has changed in the past many times, the difference this time is the speed of the change, these sorts of changes happen over 10-20 thousand years not 1-2 hundred. This is easy to see in the 'Global History' and it is 'Surprising'.

Your last statement about more evidence against than for is just fiction; I have seen nothing put out by the denier movement that would stand up to scientific scrutiny for 5 seconds, this is why all their theories appear in blogs and newsbusters.

  3. UMM h**l NO.  YOU OBVIOUSLY DONT NO YOUR FACTS MISTER.  global warming is happening, NOW.  and i dont feel like im in a f****** club!  i actually care about this earth, unlike you!

  4. You hit the nail on the head.  Most of these people just want to fit in.  They want to be part of something they think carries with it a coolness factor.

A lot of protestors will go to any 'ol protest, it doesn't matter what the cause is.  For them, it's like the people who participate in the whole football tailgating party scene.  They're not really interested in football; they just like the ancillary experience.

It reminds me of these losers who protest every year at a place called Bohemian Grove, where high level government officials from all over the world meet.

The protesters are a motley array of wanna-be '60s flower-power losers, and faux spiritualists.  The most hilarious part is when these Cretins, resplendent in their cheap imitation, psychedelic Summer of Love attire that looks like it came from a hippie K-mart.

They hold hands in a circle, and recite invocations to the river spirit, as if this is a common prayer for them.  However, they pronounce the words so sloppily and clumsily it's obvious it's the first time they have ever uttered them.  It's absolutely pathetic.

It's practically a parody of sad, silly, pathetic, desperate wanna-be losers trying to be cool and pretend they are highly spiritual and attuned to the mystical forces of the earth.

Oh well, maybe if I get bored someday I'll get a bad haircut, find some aging douche-bag hippie, borrow his clothes, and have a swell ol' time at Bohemian Grove.  I just have to practice my invocation to the river spirits for the tv cameras.

The Global Warming crowd is of the same ilk.  Among their ranks are the bored, pampered limousine liberal, the one who, with no sense of irony, shows up for a global warming rally in his Cadillac Escalade.

  5. Good questions.

I think people are accepting the idea without question,  because they don't realise the costs, and the AGW proponents are so vitriolic about dissenters. And , it's kind of fun to put on your white cowboy hat, and go pretend your saving the world.

The costs include reducing our ability to produce and manufacture at competitive prices. (like we need more of that) - in our service economy, folks don't realise that production of goods requires energy, and putting "low watt" light bulbs in (for example) an aluminum plant, will not reduce power consumption much. Worse yet - high cost energy will make it harder to adapt to the end of oil.

I think the key is to get more people interested, by presenting a few facts. Media isn't doing this. If people get interested, they can find info on the internet, and have a chance of seeing thru the hype.

          - CO2 is 380 parts per million of the air. this works out to 2 feet per mile.

          - water vapor content varies- at a median value of 2%, there would be about 100 feet per mile of this  very effective greenhouse gas.

          - we're not questioning that CO2  retains  heat- the dubious part is the "catastrophic, runaway, positive feedback" concept,  requiring drastic, disastrous remedies.

I think our remedies should be limited to things that we should do anyway - reduce our oil usage by: reducing speed limits, and taxing petroleum would reduce CO2 more than  a " cap & trade "  bureaurocracy and tax system - that'd be more of a sneaky power  (and money)grab. The AGW people favor this idea,  because they think business will be paying the cost- but it's always the poor who suffer the most, from retarded policys. business will just pass the cost along.

oil is a major part of our trade imbalance- we import a half trillion dollars worth annually. our profligate consumption keeps the price high. foreigners must resent this , and with justice. liquid fuels are far more practical for mobile uses. We should conserve it, so that future generations will have some for their fire trucks & ambulances.

  6. No.

These guys don't need to belong to a club, they already do.

The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

They all say global warming is real, and mostly caused by us.

In the case of the National Academy of scientists that "club" is 1800 of the nation's very best scientists, as selected by their peers.  And very few get any funding for global warming.  They all say global warming is real, and mostly caused by us.

I wonder if these guys are part of the communist global warming movement.

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"National Review (the most prestigious conservative magazine) published a cover story calling on conservatives to shake off denial and get into the climate policy debate"

"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air.  We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”

"I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial."

Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

  7. More than 600 prominent scientists from across the United States are calling on Congress to pass legislation that will curb America’s global warming pollution and help protect wildlife and other natural resources threatened by global warming. Spearheaded by some of America’s greatest scientific minds, including Harvard Professor E.O. Wilson, Thomas Lovejoy, Paul Ehrlich and Camille Parmesan, the scientists have sent a letter to Congress urging action.

“The science is irrefutable not only about the reality of climate change, but also that plant and animal species are already being harmed by it,” said Dr. Thomas Lovejoy, renowned conservation biologist and president of the H. John Heinz III Center for Science, Economics, and the Environment.

Sounds like a good club to be in.

  8. I do not think that

  9. Global Warming is indeed true, it's not a fable conjured by lonely people that would be ridiculous. Haven't you watched the news or Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth?! The evidence is everywhere!

  10. All humans want to feel important.  The communist global warming movement knows this and preys on the weak minded who want to fit in.  They

    So yes.

  11. There are always followers of every cause (that goes for global warming supporters and global warming deniers alike) that join so they can think they're a part of something.  These people often have little or no understanding of the cause they've joined (just like most people in church's don't know the history or doctrines of their own church).

But your characterization is very mistaken.  The reality of the matter is that the vast (and I do mean Vast) majority of scientific research in the field of climate science supports the theory of anthropogenic global warming.  If you're not aware of that, it's only because you don't read the scientific literature on the subject.  If you don't believe me, go to the National Academy of Sciences web-site yourself and search for published research on climate change or global warming and read just the introductions or conclusions (since the body is generally too complex for a non-scientist):

I'd also suggest you educate yourself on the subject.  Here are a few good introductory web-sites for you:

  12. No.  I think that people who don't believe in global warming just don't want to have to change their habits.  They prefer to chuck their empty pop cans out of the windows of their Hummers instead of taking them home and rinsing them and recycling them.  It is inconvenient, but everybody should take responsibility for the well-being of our planet instead of just figuring that the tree-huggers will make up for their lack of effort.

  13. well, it's good that people are more aware of the problem even though it's just like them jumping on the band wagon kinda thing... ah, well... + with the amount of aluminum/steel we throw away every day, we will probably one day be mining out of landfills...

  14. Is this an april fools gag??

  15. Yes I do. I believe in global warming, but I also believe in global cooling(which alot of people don't even know about). The earth has warmed and cooled for a long time, even before humans had any sort of impact on the planet. So I don't really worry about what "I can do" to stop it, it's gonna happen no matter what. And at some point, the earth will start cooling again and people will freak out over that just the same.

  16. What a silly argument ,as if concern for the Environment is a club idea.

And where does this line come from, from the propaganda???  There is more evidence against Global Warming than there is toward it. .

The wellbeing of the planet and the species ,which incidentally are all interrelated ,should be the concern of all responsible intelligent people

in the last 300 year half of the planets forests have gone

and in the last 50 years

half of our wet lands ,rain forests and ice fields .and 3000 species of animals .

Global warming is but a component, in a group of destructive forces at work such as ;deforestation, desertification, soil and water contamination ,irresponsible or wasteful utilization  of bio resources and air pollution.

which we are responsible for ,

We are now witnessing a mass Extinction of animals and plants of Biblical proportions, equal since the disappearance of the dinosaurs

    .

There is a series that you can download easy ,called

    bbc,Planet earth by David Attenborough.

    About 15 ---700mb videos

this is a photographic team that has been filming Nature stories all over the world ,for a very long time .

In 3 of the episodes called --the future--saving species(this one covers extinction and the importance of species)

the future--living together ,ice worlds ,

they compare films they made before of places and species to what they are filming now in the same places.

Many scientists give commentaries as well .

Whole migrations of animals involving millions have disappeared in only 20 years,

in one place in the tundras ,in just 5 years

If we want to save ourselves as a specie ,we have to address

    the problems

Apparently we can correct most of the destructive factors

with disciplines ,changes of attitude and habits.

All species are in Danger eventually,

Imagine that the Eco system is a wall and each specie is represented by a brick

Every brick taken out weakens the wall ,and eventually it will collapse ,which brick is the most important ???

they are all important and we are one of the bricks

  17. No, only the people that disbelieve need to band together to have a little company:

"Seventy-one percent say that global warming is probably happening, 6 percent believe it is probably not happening..."

If you've heard that the current warming is normal, you've been seriously misled :

"...the Pine Island Glacier has shrunk by an average of 3.8 centimeters annually over the past 4,700 years. But the Smith and Pope glaciers have only lost 2.3 centimeters of their thickness annually during the past 14,500 years. Satellite measurements taken between 1992 and 1996, though, show a loss of 1.6 meters in thickness per year on the Pine Island Glacier -- a figure that represents 42 times the average melt of the past 4,700 years."
