i have a lot of coworkers who think i'm over zealous about going green. i save gas when i can, i use only oxidized gas, i use reusable grocery bags and drop off old plastic bags to be recycled at the grocery store, i use ''green'' cleaners/toiletries, recycled toilet paper/paper towels, i unplug my appliances when they aren't in use, i give ''green'' gifts whenever possible (including the ''green'' diapers and baby wipes i just gave at a baby shower), i don't use disposable flatware, i hand wash all of my dishes, i reuse my ''pump operated'' shampoo bottles for dispensing liquids, etc. i'm currently in the process of switching to CFL bulbs. i'm making my changes as i can. in a week, when i run out of this laundry detergent (we buy in bulk), i'll be switching over to a ''green'' detergent. its so easy to go green. i'm aggitated towards them for being so selfish and stubborn and not considering the planet. i think they're selfish, they think i'm a hippie. what do you think?

  1. I totally support living green! it sounds like a healthy way to live in our world and if we got enough people to see the difference they can make they world will be a beutiful place. unfortuantely, most people ARE too lazy to take an extra step and have it paid off in the long run with a clean enviroment. ignore your coworkers, you shouldn't give a thing to what they say. be polite when talking to them but just think to yourself that you are the one doing the right thing, and they are the lazy bums who don't care for their future.

  2. Bad answer Ethan - people do know better and are lazy.  Yes, some older folks may not use technology and be aware of certain initiatives and some may not have the financial means to buy green which is sometimes more; however, the majority of the civilized world knows about earth saving measures.  A favorite joke of mine is bleached coffee filters, tissue paper, and toilet paper.  All items that don't need to waste precious water and furthermore, all of which use processes that contaminate clean water just to whiten paper products that don't need to be white!  Also, remember - shut your computer monitor off at night and when not in use - if not the entire system.

  3. excellent job!

Yes, I think they're lazy and ignorant to not care about the environment.

  4. if u go green  u can save some but not enough.

    carpool if can.

ride bike if safe to get to work from home.

    keep trying I am.

  5. more selfish then lazy, you really don't have to be super energetic to use a cloth towel instead of paper towels. Also it has much to do with the way people were raised. After years of hearing from multi million dollar commercials that the reusable products are the only way to be happy and if you're not using them you're a terrible person. It will take time to switch over. You have to be patient with these people. Wastefulness is an addiction. We are all affected by pollution.

  7. Well, yes, there isn't much excuse to be irresposible...even small efforts is a step in the right direction. But some people have lives that are tough to work around a huge change...like those that live in open country and have to drive several miles to get anywheres, they can't just walk it when they want.....and in truth, its more important companies make the effort before people because they originate wasteful products that everyone buys

  8. I don't think it means they're lazy it could just mean they don't care about this issue enough. Personally I believe everyone should go green because of the gas prices and all of that. If people don't start being green the world is going to end sooner than it's intended to. Hope this helps!

  9. i dont think people that dont go green are lazy because thats like calling our hard working grandparents and great grandparents lazy

  10. The country needs to begin having an "honest" conversation about the "costs and consequences" of ethanol regulations.

While most people are focusing on rising gas prices, world food prices are also soaring -- and those soaring prices are having a "devastating" effect on people.

Many people are now going hungry; and while there are a lot of reasons for the rising cost of food, ethanol mandates are a part of that and it is something that the Greenies need to think seriously about changing.

Reports suggests that bio-fuel production contributes to about one-third of the rising cost of food. As farmers switch crops in order to grow more corn for bio-fuel, that has a negative impact on the price of wheat and other grains. And the excess corn production does not enter the food market.
