supportive of policies that help the minority? I remember going to a school for an orientation that was about 30 percent white students and they didn't talk about the racial mix of the school too much. Then I left the school and went to a one that was 95% white students and the faculty having the orientation went on and on about how great the diversity of the school was and how much of a wonderful inpact it was having on the experiences of the students, etc.

Do you have similiar experiences?

  1. maybe the 95% white school was trying to over compensate? I live in Toronto which is extremely multicultural and we talk about diversity a lot. Most businesses have a policy to be open to diversity and to have a good mix of people.

  2. My high school had a few black students, quite a lot of Asian students, and about as many Aboriginal students. We were one of the most supportive schools of multiculturalism in the city. Meanwhile, my university has a much higher percentage of visible minorities, and we're even more PC than my high school was.

  3. Definitely. I've seen the attitudes from people in my community change quite significantly over the years as more and more immigrants appear. Personally I was quite happy with them until the menfolk started propositioning me for s*x and one tried to rape me. They've recently changed the toilets at a London prison to face away from Mecca, at a cost of thousands of pounds to the taxpayer. Now I'm considering voting for the BNP.

    (joke, just about)

  4. Well, there's more to it than the percentage of black people who live in those "racist" states. In the Southern states, you also have the dark past of slavery, and segregation. Segregation, and the hatred, intolerance, and violence that went along with it was not that long ago in many Southern states, many people in the South can remember a time when there were separate entrances to movie theatres, and separate drinking fountains. I think THAT has a lot more to do with racism in the South, than the population mix.

  5. Yep.

I went to predominantly black high school and much like your school, they didn't make mention of race.

Graduated high school and went to a predominantly white college and you basically couldn't go anywhere without hearing about programs for minorities and scholarships for minorities and all that other politically correct c**p.

  6. Found it funny....

Illegal immigration was HUGE issue here in NC, a few months back during the local elections.

Posted a Q about it....most of the people living in area of very high illegal immigration CA TX ....really just wanted everyone to leave them alone.  No big deal
